I saw a thread from 2016 about this ..Has anybody actually done it thru the breather tube ..It looks like a real pain in the a** to remove the air box just to spray fogging oil into the throttle body ...Am i missing something here why you cant spray it into where the the breather tube connects...see photo

If i fogged my engine down I would use that

Friend of mine is a Yamaha mechanic. He sprays directly into each plug.

That’s what I do too, just easier, and I’m in Wisconsin so we have long, sometimes brutal winters, so far no issues.

Cylinder fogging is fine but doesnt really get the valves adequately.

When i winterize my jetskis i fog the motor thru the air intake until it stalls then i fog each cylinder seperately, then i dry crank it for a second or two.....everybody has their own way of winterizing /fogging / antifreeze ...thats why i asked about the breather tube because it looks like a quick way to stall the engine

I don’t fog. But when I did, I did breather tube until engine would almost die then fog again. First time I fogged I pulled plugs and fogged each cylinder. Many thoughts on fogging.

When i worked on them up north, that's exactly how we did them.

I dont winterize here in eastern NC. I take my boat out sometimes in winter.

That's exactly how I fog mine. I'm not convinced its necessary, but little harm and I'll change my plugs after the first spring run anyway.

That's they way I always did mine too; easy and effective.

A couple notes about this. I have done the fogging myself on my 242 and these engines will never stall from fogging. I believe the service manual says to fog through the intake with 1 can of fogging oil per engine. Also, if you fog through the breather tube, you risk the pipette from fogging spray going into the intake and getting stuck in the throttle body. (Throwing check engine light) Ask me how I know.

While it isn’t super simple to remove the air filter cover and loosen the hose clamp to get to the throttle body, it isn’t that hard either. Only takes about 5 mins per engine. That is what I would recommend.

Mine stalls out quite easily with fogging spray. Does Yamaha sell tiny little cans? I couldn't imagine spraying an entire can into a motor.

Since we are in the same area , do you pinch the line to keep the antifreeze from pouring right out or do you just run a few gallons thru the flush port as if you were flushing normally....ive always been told yamahas were self draining and didnt need to pinch the line... @seanmclean

I just run about two gallons through each port using a drill pump to create pressure. It's not really necessary, but doesn't hurt anything and only costs a few bucks and a few minutes. The motors are definitely self draining, but its cheap insurance if water settles somewhere (like in the pisser lines).

Thanks , Walmart sells the RV antifreeze cheap enough to do 2 gallons in each engine
