Do you wear a (boating) hat!

Shelta Seahawk Amazon.com: Shelta Seahawk: Clothing (Also not a cheap hat but works great - I like the wider sides than the Osprey)

Do you wear a (boating) hat!

+1 for the Shelta hat. For years I've had a couple of Tilley hats - picked two up on a trip to Toronto when I stumbled on an outlet sale at their store, for $18 a piece! Got a Shelta this year for the fixed brim, which works great even at WOT. No more momentary blindness when the Tilley flopped...

    The Vaccine

My wife is an OB/GYN. Sounds like it's time yours sought out another doc. One that preferably keeps up with all the latest journals and peer reviews and recommendations. See Julian's post. He pretty much covers all the major bases...

    The Vaccine

?? Dang people! I've been off this thread for a while and still it spins in circles that I simply can't comprehend... 1. Persistent questioning of "mixed messages" from CDC/docs/etc. Filter out the (predominantly political) yahoos that get most of the press by making ignorant uninformed comments...

How to avoid clogging your engine with sand

Ok, maybe we're a biased group here but I think these are perfect boats for (relatively) shallow water - I have my depth alarm set to 2' which in our area is common even in marked channels, especially after storms. (They're supposed to be a minimum of 3' deep...) Most of our acquaintances with...

    The Vaccine

Hey, two questions I've been wondering about - particularly directed to the "oh, hell no" folks: 1. If getting a vaccine because it will protect others (and you but let's ignore that for now) isn't enough motivation, what - if anything - would move the goal post for you? I've heard a number of...

    Fusion replacement...

@biffdotorg yeah, you'd think so... ?. @Shookie might have some better luck since it's still a current unit but when I called about mine they simply said they do not repair, period. Didn't think to ask if they have refurbs though.

    Fusion replacement...

I replaced the POC head unit that came with my boat with a Fusion 700 about 5 years ago and it's really a piece of cake to do, particularly if you're replacing it with another Fusion unit. (Probably advisable if you have the NMEA-connected remote at the stern.) On mine the front panel pops off...

    The Vaccine

A couple more thoughts, as if I didn't ramble on enough before. The first problem here is, IMO, the 'emergency' nature of all this. We're in effect seeing the wizard behind the curtain - something that has never happened before. Usually the good folks like @swatski have done their work long...

    The Vaccine

You know, this is a tough one... (but it really shouldn't be) I've read the whole thread - and it took quite some time., but it's been eye opening. Now I feel that even though this is going to be lengthy, there's so much I need to get off my chest! The OP's original question was about...

    The Vaccine

Going back to this article... here's Snopes' take on it. And I don't think they have a stake in the game! '18 Reasons I Won’t Be Getting a COVID Vaccine' Post Filled With Reckless Falsehoods (Wow, wait to post until the next evening and you're 3 pages behind on this thread!)

Post up your funny MEMES (Nothing Political Please)

The only time I trend toward A is when I'm flying (duh!) and - as all here well know or will soon learn - on the boat. Yamahas and Cessnas - great machines really, but with the shittiest, most unbelievable fuel gauges ever made! (The only time I've run out of gas in a car, in over 45 years...

    Cutting holes for new speakers

Hmmm... won't you risk a lot of chipping with a jig saw? I think you'd have to choose blade carefully - fine, sharp teeth? Planning to finally get around to adding a couple of speakers when the boat comes out of storage. I found a big enough hole saw set at Harbor Freight last year that seems to...

    Underwater light indecision

Back to thinking about a transom mounted underwater light. Narrowed it down to Lumitec Seablaze Quattro (blue/white, 2000 lumens) at a good price ($228) on Amazon right now (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077XKPZ9Z) or the Dragon (8000 lumens) V2 from boatpluglight.com for $224 with...

2021 Boating Season - When will it start?

Every year I say we're going to get the boat in the water by the end of March art the latest and every year since we've owned it something has come up (even if it's just weather that conspires against us) and then we're into April. Crossing our fingers for this year.
