    Amp wiring questions

If your rear battery compartment is located on the port side, like it is on the 212's, then I don't think so. I'm not sure where it is on 2020 AR240's. Probably need closer to 20 feet (15 at least) to make it from the helm compartment to the aft port compartment. Jeff

    Loading Issues!

Let me re-emphasize No. 3. I are one too. If possible, have the lawyer back the trailer into the water. It not only solves the 3rd issue above, but you'll get the satisfaction of having everyone pointing and laughing at a lawyer in a totally new setting. Jeff

Welcome! And in the meantime can you post a picture of your Harley? Jeff

    Next Stereo upgrade?

My $.02 on the gauge question is that you can try using the existing 8 gauge to a bus to run the amps and see how it works, since it's simple. I'm almost certain you'd be better off with 0 AWG to the bus and then 4 AWG to each amp from there. But you could try it the easy way first, and maybe...

Another Great Day On the Water - Key West

Just to chime in here, the wife and I have spent a bit of time on Key West and absolutely loved it (no hurricane experience though). If it's half as great to live there as it is to visit, then congratulations on living in paradise. Jeff

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

Finished? I told myself before my first audio upgrade that that was all I was going to do. And then I'd be finished. Three upgrades later and now it's: "I can quit anytime I want." Yeah, right. You'll do fine installing the current upgrade. Not so sure about the "finished" part. Jeff

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

Hopefully with this thread you now have a better context for the information provided by the manual, and it will make more sense the second time through. If you've not played with this stuff before, just understanding the terminology can be a real challenge. But once you've gone through the...

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

Yes on the wire length, and on taping the ends. You can also buy some butt connectors and crimp them on the end of the wires in place of the spade connectors for something a little more reliable than tape. You shouldn't need Y splitters with your setup as it currently stands. Suggest you read...

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

No, each RCA cable represents a channel. You have four input channels. Front left, front right, rear left, rear right. Your head unit is fine. I believe from the picture it is a Polk PA4A, which is what they were putting in the 212 boats in 2017/8. I actually really like mine. As @tdonoughue...

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

Respectfully, I think your dealer is not correct on how these 212 boats were wired in 2017 and 2018. Note that the wires say "series" on them. Your harness looks just like mine did. The easiest way to check whether it is series and parallel is simply to disconnect one wire from one of the...

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

Not terribly time consuming. To do it neatly, maybe 4 hours. As was suggested, leave the original wiring in place (making sure the ends don't touch each other), use a fish of some kind to fish the new wires through (stiff solid core 10 gauge works well) and take your time. You can encase each...

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

Well, you have six channels on your new amp. If you run 4 of the speakers in series, you will only use two amp channels to do so. Your other two speakers will run on two other amp channels, and you will have two amp channels left open. Nothing wrong with two open channels. However, the speaker...

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

Yes, you are definitely getting lots of info thrown at you. I'm pretty certain that four of your speakers are wired in series and that you don't want to that wiring as is with your new amp. @Dave burke and I both have the same boats (212X) one year apart and ran into the same issues when...

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

One more point. I looked more closely at the picture in your first post. The purple wire has the word "series" on it. And it looks like the same OEM wire that was in my boat. You probably want to rewire your new speakers and amp to get rid of that series setup. Depending how your new amp is...

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

My guess is that you'll be ok with the stock wire. It is at least 16 gauge and may be 14. On the '17 LS, there's no sub, right? 4 speakers in the cabin and two on the swim deck? I don't know if Yamaha ran any of your speakers in series on the LS. They did on my 2018 212X and it was a mess...

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

I don't know that you've provided enough information for that recommendation at this point. What speakers and amps do you currently have and what are you adding to your system? Jeff
  17. JDRacing

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

Yes, you're restricting the ability of the current your amp is capable of delivering to actuate the voice coils in the speakers as they were designed to move. Think of it as water through a hose. If you use a 1/4" hose you will not move the same volume of water as 1/2" hose assuming the the...

    2017 212 ls speaker wire

I"m pretty sure my '18 212X, as it came stock, used 16 gauge for the cabin speakers and 12 gauge for the sub. When I upgraded and rewired, I used 14 for the 6.5's in the cabin and on the swim deck, kept the 12 gauge for the sub, and used 12 gauge for the Rev 8's that I added to the tower. Jeff

Glad you found the rope. Yeah, I would have thought the dealer would find that. Is the impeller still in good shape? No bent or dinged blades?

    Tower Light

Not sure what year your 212 LS is, but assuming it is a newer one with the 7" Connext screen, with the Connext on, either select the light icon along the top, or push the button with the bulb on it. On the lighting screen, there are touch screen icons for the nav lights, courtesy lights and the...
