    Need Help on Trailer Brakes

I agree. it's probably a bad ground, or switch. Taking the brakes off the trailer really isn't an option as if you get in an accident and don't have brakes on that trailer....it's your fault.

    Dog Life Jacket - Recommendations

Out 10lb Terrier mix has a really large chest area, then skinny chihuahua but. This makes her hard to size because in order to get anything big enough for her chest, it's usually too long for her torso. We're on our third and the Ruffwear is by far the best. It's pricy though. Your baby is...

Got a violation alert from my marina!

If your boat sits in an uncovered slip, go solar on a trickle charger. My dock won't allow long term use of the 110 so I had to do that. The nice thing is there's never any word about some dufus unplugging you for some reason....every day there's light, the trickle charger charges your house...

    New boat and interesting quandary

I agree with the above...if he didn't put any risk into this in the form of money, then he doesn't get any of the reward. The idea was to buy it and flip it, not but it and enjoy it for a couple of years and sell it.

Rope sucked up now terrible cavitation

Couple of thoughts come to mind...noting that any small thing in that tunnel before the impeller can cause cavitation. I like the idea above of looking for small strings on the shaft before the impeller...try running an exact blade down the shaft as if there's some clear filament on the shaft...

    FLOAT MODE

With the standard twin battery set up from Yamaha, both batteries should be turned to the ON position with Battery #1 being the Start, and #2 being the House. Both of mine are deep cycle AGM Marine and the house is a Group 31, and the Start a 27 (smaller size). I've never had a problem with...

New AR190 - It takes 6K RPM to go 20mph?!

Couple of thoughts...I've only really been in a 232 or a 242 so can't speak to the specifics of the single engine series These boats take a lot of thrust to get up out of the water and there's a big difference in speed once they come up out of the water. 17-18mph sounds about right for a slow...

Clean out plug actually filled with water?

I was thinking that's a lot of water on a 2019 and your plugs shouldn't need rebuilt yet. I use a little white spray grease on the seals of my plugs...maybe yours are getting dry and/or have some sand in there thet's not allowing a completely clean seal. Like others have said, maybe this water...

2016 242X connext "gateway comm error"

Hey Julian....Let us know how it goes once you get it out on the water. I'll be curious to see how/if this is fixed.

Just how noisy / thirsty are they?

I agree in that the BoatTest data on fuel and noise is pretty solid..they don't have any real reason not to present it for what it is. Yamaha has also done a good job lately of making these boats quieter. My 17 is WAY quieter than the 09. I think when you're comparing these boats to the...

How to clean zebra mussels out of ballast bags

Getting mussels out of the bags is only part of the issue. You also need to make sure there are no large living in low parts of hoses, pumps, parts of the engines, or your water boxes. Before putting any boat into Lake Tahoe that's been in another lake, it MUSY go through a mussel inspection...

Might be buying soon, help with price...

I'l add the price of the boat & trailer and as others have said compare that to the MSRP for the package as they are sold. If they're priced separately then as noted above it may be for tax purposes: if so, negotiate the price out of whichever one is higher. - save yourself a few $ on taxes...

Water coming out of starboard water flush port

I typically keep the covers on my flush attachment ports. Even then it's not uncommon to have some water dripping out of them. I've always attributed it to back-pressure from the overall system. My recommendation would be to put the covers on them when running it and enjoy!

    Twin Engine turning

pulling tubers is a constant use of the throttle. if ya want to whip them about a bit, slow down a bit before the turn, crank the wheel and punch it....they'll shoot around fast enough. This one kind go says it all (note the direction of the tube wake is sideways)...

    Keel Guard Length Considerations?

Both are great products and I've had them on both of my Yamaha's. Their websites make recommendations on length. On my 232, I ended up buying one that was 1-2 feet longer than recommended as it was considerably cheaper at the time. It didn't affect performance of the boat at all. So my...

Where do you draw the line? <shoes & pets>

All good. we've also made it somewhat fun for those who've been around on the boat for a while...I'll cover the list and then ask them what I missed...they always get it (and I've missed it because I likely forgot). :)

Where do you draw the line? <shoes & pets>

Here's some of my rules and I usually incorporate them into a "first timers out speech": Shoes go in the bin upon arrival (I keep a tub under one of the seats for them) No spray sunscreen as overspray lands on the deck and makes a slipping hazard (not to mention an oily mess I HAVE TO CLEAN UP)...

Jet Boats in Salt Water are a Mistake

I tow my 242x with a Porsche Cayenne and it does fine...I definitely know the boat is back there. I figure fully loaded on the trailer with fuel and supplies, it's close to 6400 pounds. The boat is about 4400lb + 1000lb for the trailer + 350lb for a tank of fuel. The remaining 600-700lb is...

Sotally Tober might be back again (for the third time)...

I bought my '09 from Bert's in '12 (it was a new holdover from the downturn). They are a BIG power sports dealer and they were OK. Somewhat disorganized on delivery day but overall they were up & up with the sale and not trying to swindle anything. I say if the boat you want is there, give...

Thinking of Switching - Prop vs Jet in Charts

Lots of good info in those charts there. BoatTest seems to get a bit of a bad rap when it comes to their overall tests however, I think you can consider their fuel consumption and noise levels to be pretty reliable ... it's just the data they are reporting. I also like how they also say how...
