    RPM for Sport Jet 90?

I have my Hobie Jet Fisherman running pretty good now and I have a question for someone who knows more about the Sport Jet than I do. I observe a WOT of about 48-4900 rpm with a slight miss. I wondered if the slight miss might be the RPM limiter doing it's work. At the dock I pulled the black...

93 Jazz SportJet 90 intermittent power loss

Check the fuel pump. You could try pumping the primer if equipped. Mine would run and then slow and then stop. It would restart and then run OK at reduced power. A fuel pressure gauge would be a help.

Compass fluid leaked out. Anyone else ever experience this.

Most compasses use Stoddard solvent AKA mineral spirits. Find the leak, drill a hole, refill, enjoy

1996 sugar sand heat 2 stroke oil?

Operation of the Injection System The oil injection system delivers an oil mixture, on engine demand, from 100 to 1 at idle to 50 to 1 at wide open throttle. The oil reservoir holds 4.5 quarts of oil which will provide 4.5 hours of running time at wide open throttle. A low oil warning horn will...

1996 sugar sand heat 2 stroke oil?

If it hasn't been run recently you might want to pre mix the first tank of fuel to make sure the oil injection is working properly. If you pre mix at maybe 100:1 then it won't smoke too badly if the oil is being injected and keep from damaging the engine while it gets the oil flowing.

    Rinker Rocket Jet boat Good/bad?

What matters is three things, 1. Condition 2. Condition 3. Condition. The Rocket is propelled by a 120 hp Mercury (Force) 120 hp 4 cylinder engine driving the Sport jet pump. Two things count there, 1. Condition of the pump impeller and wear ring 2. Condition of thee Force engine. A test run...

West Marine now price matching this is a game changer

I bought a Garmin EchoMap Chirp 74 sv at West Marine for $499.99 and a few days later I was at Bass Pro in Leeds Al. and saw a sale flyer listing the same unit for 449.99 - $50.0 difference. I will test the low price guarantee before the 30 days is up!

Sport jet 90 - 120 intake grate streamlining?

I bought one off of eBay for a 1996 the latest one. I don;t know it there is any difference in that one and the one that came on my boat, but the pump housing part numbers are the same so I assume that I can make it fit. I was wondering about any useful modifications before I install it after I...

Sport jet 90 - 120 intake grate streamlining?

Whaddabout the trailing edges? I would think that making a streamlined profile on both sides would help. When I get the FrankenGrate off and the holes retapped and repaired I will Smoothing the plates etc to help move water in. Would a better pickup load the engine more and reduce rpms or feed...

Sport jet 90 - 120 intake grate streamlining?

Jeff can you post some pictures? Or perhaps tel us what you d and the results. We don't have a bad weed problem here in Navarre on the sound, but since I haven't gotten FrankenGrate off yet I have time to work on the late model grate I bought. By the way I feel better about my speed with...

    Merc sport jet 120

I have to agree These boats are cheap because they are relatively unloved. I spent the time and money on my boat because it is a Hobie Jet Skiff and will be great for fishing in the Santa Rosa sound and shallows. I don;t know how much you paid for the boat with a blown motor, but it is your...

Sport jet 90 - 120 intake grate streamlining?

Now that I have mu boat running with the Franken-Grate That hangs down into the water stream a pretty good bit. The boat speed is not as fast as the original tests say it should be . I got 32 MPH at ~5000 rpm where the 1995-6 tests gave a speed of 38 MPH with the poling platform and two people...

    Merc sport jet 120

It is likely that the rod was thrown because of an oil injector that was not working for some reason. My 90 hp is not oil injected and I mix. While it will smoke more and be a PITA you will know that you have oil! By the way a fuel filter/separator might well be a good addition as well. I also...

Ride plate bolt won't go back in

I have a Sport Jet and the screws that hold the intake grate on are more or less permanently fused into the pump hpusing. My guess is that when the hammer/loosener is through there will be cursing, weeping wailing, and gnashing of teeth and drilling and tapping involved.

    Merc sport jet 120

My boat is a 90 hp and I am afraid I can't help much with a hole in the crankcase behind the computer. This would be around the #1 or #2 cylinders and would strongly suggest that the engine lost a con rod. A replacement bloc and crank would be necessary at the least along with the internals. The...

    Water in Force cylinders

I had a problem with water getting into the cylinders of my 90 hp Mercury (Force) Sport Jet and I have found a few thinga out. First there are two types of crankcases some with the cooling water inlet in the forward side of the exhaust cooling water chamber, This is not necessary since the water...
