    Steering cables frozen.....again!

I have the exact same boat but have had no issues at all with steering since new.... extremely easy to turn. I boat only in fresh water but have not even serviced the steering cables.

    Chaparral VRX 223 Error Codes

I think these error codes have been mentioned on some other boards. See the descriptions below... I do not think these sensors are expensive in the US (and possbily less for you).... maybe US$60-$70.

    Best Lakes

If you want a private dock, you need to typically look at TVA lakes at least in TN. We have a house on Tims Ford Lake near Winchester. Great small town, 1 1/2 hours from Nashville, an hour from Chattanooga or Huntsville, and not overly crowded. As someone mentioned, TN has no state income tax...

Anyone towing with a Cadillac Escalde?

I have a 2010 Escalade and pulled a horse trailer for 2 years (about 8k lbs loaded) with no issues at all. I now pull my Chap 223 with no issues... can hardly tell I'm towing anything except when I stop (hyd trailer brakes are only fair). My 2010 has about 100k miles but is stock. I am pretty...

    RPM Inconsistencies

I have the 223VRX with twin 200's and RPM seems to max out around 7200. At about 40 hours I have yet to see anything above 7200. It does have a limiter that limits RPM to 6800 or so until 10 hours are logged.

    243 VR Horse Power

I have the 223 with twin 200's and power is more than ample. Not sure of the weight delta from the 243, but I max out around 54mph. I do not have ballast tanks or anything though. Acceleration is quite brisk and handling insane. We don't have much grass in our lake but so far no major issues...

Clicking sound after turning key on

While less than an educated guess, it may be related to the temp gauges as they are analog and may have a step-down relay. I think my dash makes a slight buzzing sound (maybe for 2 seconds or so) when I turn the key.

    Winterize?

The dealer advised me to use the GM Dex-cool antifreeze.... i believe it is orange in color.

Chaparral 243 Vortex - First Service

That is insane!! Is there a Seadoo dealership nearby? I found a local non-Chap boat dealer but they sell Seadoo jet skis and was able to reset the computer codes. My VRX was the first they serviced but think they have since seen another.

Chaparral 243 Vortex - First Service

you can change the oil and filters fairly easily, but I believe the computer will need to be reset as it is based on hours. I finally let a dealer do it... cost me about $300 as I recall for both engines. If it is your first service they also check hoses and such to make sure all is still...

    Medallion Freezing UP

I think fbw was introduced in 2016. My rpms don't get about 7800 or so anyway but I'll check next time out.

    Medallion Freezing UP

Mine is a 2015 model so may have different throttle controls, but my engines never changed rpm with my freeze up. It was just the screen freezing and temp gauges turning off. Required a complete medallion replacement and been fine ever since. I'm only around 25 hours though as only been out...

'16 chaparral vrx side radio unit

On mine, I push and hold the power button for about 2 seconds and it should turn off. If not, and unless you switch off the battery switch in the back, it will probably stay on until the battery is drained.

    Medallion Freezing UP

If you are experiencing Medallion freeze-ups, I strongly recommend having the dealer investigate and you might request replacement. As all gauges (not just the LCD) are driven by Medallion, they all fail even if they look correct (temp, battery, depth, etc...). I thought it was maybe just the...

    2016 Chaparral Vortex 243 VRX

Totally agree on the firmware update. I may need one as well. Did you obtain a new memory card from Navionics or try to use your old one? On the 2015 model there is a 2g card limit and I could only use the card they sent me (maybe a security or format issue.... not sure). I tried using my own...

    2016 Chaparral Vortex 243 VRX

I have a 2015 223VRX, and learned that to make my navigation function I had to order a new SD card from Navionics, erase all the data (not reformat), and download from their website. It worked fine after that. You are correct that there is limited info on these systems. My Medallion display...

    Important Scarab/Chaparral/Glastron Info. **Please Read**

As I understand it, the synthetic blend is used for the supercharged engines as it is formulated specifically for the internal clutch. I use Mobil1 in my non-supercharged SeaDoo jetskis and they perform well. I prefer pure synthetic for all of the stated reasons, but especially since it seems...

The 2015 223 seats have no hinges. All are lift-outs.

Test driving 223 vrx tomorrow, need input ASAP

I have two jet skis with the rotax engines (2006) and not a lick of trouble outside of a starter solenoid replacement at around 180 hours (on both, but only $16). I too received the 5 year warranty on my 223VRX which makes me feel good. Plus I met with one of the BRP engineers last month at...

Test driving 223 vrx tomorrow, need input ASAP

That's a great deal on a gorgeous boat.... hint though about trailering: remove the floor mats if trailering w/o a cover. Maybe it is general knowledge to do so (live and learn), but Chaparral reduced the number of snaps and I had 1 or 2 apparently fly out on first trip back to dealer (and...
