Is the 212x wake surf able?

Wakebooster or Wakewedge with transom bag and the wake is big enough to go ropeless every day of the week.

Need help, I can not decided between the 2018 212x or the 2018 242 limited S E series

For me bigger isn't always better.... 212x has been perfect for my family. As the above graphic shows the difference between 212x and 242 isn't really that much inside the boat. We've had 6-8 people on the boat several times with no issue. One thing no one has mentioned is yearly costs. My...

    My 8 year old wakesurfing....

Its a Ronix powertail kids board (or certainly the smallest one they make)

    My 8 year old wakesurfing....

Interesting.... That's about 10.2-10.5 when I use the wedge and ballast bag that's pretty much the sweetspot for me to cruise ropeless. You think without the wedge slower than that is better?

    My 8 year old wakesurfing....

Lots of people on here tubing with their kids and using the various kids learner boards... Heres a video of one of my sons who's 8 waking surfing. This is his second summer of water sports, maybe 10 outings per summer? Last year he figured out how to wakeboard which is a little easier to get up...

Just put a deposit on a 2018 AR 210 (Blue Color) Guys!! So excited!

I bought a 2017 212x.... There was definitely some similar stuff going on with regard to delivery. The dealer was telling me he could have sold each boat he got form Yamaha three times over. I don't know if I believed him but it definitely took longer than promised to take delivery.... and there...

2018 Yamaha 212X Wake Surfing setup

I agree with above... Its not the same for every boat, conditions, water depth amount of human ballast etc all mean that it takes some playing around to find the best set up for your boat. the 750s are enough to get you what you need.

2018 Yamaha 212X Wake Surfing setup

I have a 2017 212X I added Hydrophase Ridesteady and the Wakewedge. We have two ballast bags but often just use one, (800lbs) either on the swim deck or on the port seat. We fill port side 100%, center 75% and starboard 50%. Going ropeless is easy for anyone skilled enough to know how to find...

    Farewell

Wow! That’s cool. I may upgrade down the line. I love my 212x but we love wakesurfing and the bags get annoying and time consuming

    Farewell

I'm curious @Blenderhead how much money are we taking to upgrade to something like that? I have exactly the same 2017 212X as you had..... I presumed these wakeboard were double the price minimum ?????

Bigger guy -- smaller wake -- WakeSurf board advice

Last year I was using a Ronix Powertail that I bought used on this forum from @Blenderhead. Great board. Going ropeless was easy on this board. Just got a new custom board that a friend made for me. Looking forward to seeing how good the custom will be...

Bigger guy -- smaller wake -- WakeSurf board advice

I'm by no means an expert. But I'm 5'10 - 225 and can go ropeless easily behind my 212X. Going ropeless is about (A) having enough ballast, we use stock ballast of approx 1100lbs plus at least one 750lbs fat sack plus 3-4 people. It seems 2000lbs is a minimum? I also use the WakeWedge. (B)...
