12 Volt outlet isn't working. Troubleshot wires has 12 VDC to socket but not working for adapters. Anyone know the proper way the circuit breaker should be wired to the outlet? I've tried different combinations and none work.

I saw a post where someone just put in a dual USB outlet. Is that wired the same way?

Please help. Thanks

On a bright note I got my new Fusion radio installed and now I can junk the old JBL garbage radio!
Woo Hoo!

Did you confirm that you have power at the wires to the socket? If you have power to the socket then most likely something is damaged inside.

Check out this thread if you want to replace it with a dual USB charger https://jetboaters.net/threads/adding-usb-charger-outlet.6551/

I am very happy about replacing the in dash 12 volt outlet with a Blue Seas Dual USB charger.

I do have power to the back of the socket. there is a jumper wire between the circuit breaker and the outlet. There are 2 blade connectors on the back of the 12v outlet, and 2 on the circuit breaker. I've never tried to use the socket but now that I live near shallow water, I use my Ipad and navioncs for guidance. That's how I noticed that the Ipad wasn't charging.

I decided to do some troubleshooting and replace the radio at the same time and that's what led me to post this thread.

My real question is the positioning of the wires on the switches. There is a 12v wire, a ground wire, and then the jumper wire between the circuit breaker and the outlet. Do you know how they are supposed to be wired?

I did order the cheapest dual USB outlet, from good ol' Amazon, tonight and will replace it with that, but as others have mentioned in the posts you recommended, I may want to put the outlet elsewhere in the boat.

Thanks for your reply. This is a great site for information.

On my 230 the positive lead runs through the breaker and the negative is switched.

If the cheapest dual USB outlet has not shipped yet I would suggest swapping it for the Blue Seas version.

@Bruce, thanks for the advice. Order cancelled. Went to West Marine and got the BlueSea USB cheaper than I could find it on Amazon.

Muchas gracias. That's all the Spanish I know!

I have found on my boat, new in '14, that the polarity was backwards on my 12V outlet. I swaped the wires, but my cell chargers still will not work for some reason. Pumps run just fine though.

Went out today and neither 12 volt power socket would work. Both worked on last outing. Can't seem to find a fuse just for them and I don't know of anything else that is not working. Please help.
