When I bought my boat it would go up to 7000 RPM's. After the ten hours I called Scarab and they told me that the basic 165 only goes 7000 rpm. A couple of weeks ago something got in the impeller so I took it to the dealer. They cleaned it out and today i put the bat back on the water. I took it out and now the boat goes up to 8000 rpm's and will do 42mpg. Anyone else experience this

I assume you mean mph.
That shouldn't be the case but we have heard a lot of scarab dealers being a little shady. I think that a lot of them just don't know the product yet and they have a huge learning curve.
They probably had something stuck in there from the beginning or the dealer had it in some demo mode.

in a 165 it is 1 engine, right? What horse power do you have?

I assume that is the 155 single?
Certainly not the 255 supercharged at that speed. If so, we got some issues.

I have 17 hours on my 165 and still can't reach 42 mph. Try to see what they did so I can get up to those speeds. Informed my tech about the issue and he said it's a little on the low side but my prop, etc. looks good.

If it's not white knuckle speed, what's the draw to the 165?

My exciter 270 went 65 mph, and it was an awesome first boat. I am sure the supercharged 255 hp scarab 165 is about the same and can come with a tower and such from the factory.
To get a 165 with the base engine is a great way to get your behind on the water inexpensively and still have a warranty. It's a 4 man jet ski! At 40 mph you could cruise around for a good bit and still have that jet take off that is such a blast.
The old exciter 135 was a two smoke with one pump and they ran about 42-43 tops typically. Still will scare the heck outta ya when a big wave comes!
Unless you're a nut like me and you like jumping the waves!

Look at the specs on this chart, it will clear up any mph/rpm questions.image.png

Whoa! Wait a minute.....
First of all, it seems you are within reason of specs now, whatever they did.
Second, and this I did NOT know...

Scarab supercharger engines use a 161mm pump! This is a huge deal! The 250 hp is just about perfect there! I thought they were over loading the pump but in reality someone actually knows something over there. I don't know about the engine efficiency, but if 250 hp is actually getting to the pump then they did it right.

Here is what I heard regarding the Scarab165
Using a 250hp, turning 7900/8000rpm & speed around 52mph
Using a 150hp, turning 7400/7500rpm & speed around 42mph.
With cold weather around the corner, those Rotax engines should be putting out good numbers.

I would almost be okay with the 150hp and 42 mph given that it only uses 8 GPH. For me to go 51 MPH in the Yamaha LS2000, twin engine, it burns 28 GPH. That's about $80 more per hour but I know there are a lot of smiles that go along with that. I rarely use WOT and I think 42mph is plenty fast enough.

It looks like the 250 Rotax Scarab will do 52 MPH and only burn 18 GPH but I might still choose the 150hp if this is used as a Dinghy.

I am a big fan of these boats, including the sea doos. But, I would love to see a yammie 15-16 footer with the svho!!

Scarab 165 Ho, 48 hours, 53 to 56 MPH depending on conditions. The hole shot is awesome, 45 MPH in nothing flat. Got my first ticket 11/1/2015. I did not have a smile on my face then. But the 165 is fun boat.

Does anyone have the trailer surge braked 165 trailer? How is it? Can you lock it to the truck/hitch?

image.jpeg Anyone know what the hole above the drain plugs are?
I believe the bilge pump hole is on the port side. Just curious what the ones on the back are for. I know on the old speedster there use to be a scupper valve. Is that what this is?

Probably a Scupper. Looks stainless too, good job for them!

Has anyone put a rear view mirror on their 165? Where did you put it and how does it look? Not sure if one from the tower would work or if it would work from the storage lid in front of the driver.
