Looks fun

Thanks again for a great day on the water Robert aka "Official Tour Guide of South Carolina". I'm setting here in a condo at MB watching it rain and trying to figure out a way that can get me closer to the coast. Man its nice to have limitless water access. Love the video!

Makes me want to buy another ski now! How long would that run take by boat? Average speed?

We left Myrtle Beach at 7:30am and got back at 4pm. we left isle of palms at 2pm and made it to Myrtle Beach at 4pm we averaged running around 40-45 mph on the way home. We took it easier on the way down and it took about 3 hours with a stop in Mclellanvile.

That was great I need to do a long ski run soon!

Can you map out your route might like to try this on the boat. Sounds like a good couple day trip.

@Mark all we did was follow the ICW the whole way. You can put in anywhere in Myrtle Beach or Pawleys Island on the ICW and follow the channel markers the whole way the only place it may get a little confusing is in Winyah Bay in Georgetown but if you have a gps the ICW will be well marked on it through there.

@Mark its a great day trip. Like Robert said, the ICW was very well marked all the way down to Charleston. There were markers like this pretty frequently.

I am getting me a freaking chart plotter and a vhf radio this winter! Next year we will be able to do some salt water navigation! I don't do it now unless I have a guide...

@Ramblin Wreck I figured that was how you went. I have never done the ICW but have every intention to do so soon!
Would love to leave from somewhere in NC and go all the way to the end in the south! But I know that is a big trip for sure!

@Mark I would highly encourage it. Living in ATL I'm typically only getting time around the local lakes. I found the ICW way smoother of a ride then my local lakes, yet there are some parts that have just enough chop to keep you entertained. Overall it's very calm and enjoyable ride. I too would love to do a multi day ride down the ICW.

I might go on a solo one way run from Myrtle to Charleston (same route @robert843 and I took this past weekend) on Friday and have the family pick me up there before heading back to ATL. If I go, it will be without GPS so it will be a bit more interesting particularly around Winyah Bay as @robert843 mentioned before. We launched from Wacca Wache Marina. If you're ever out near Myrtle, give it shot as its well worth it.

Thank you I will! So you recommend a GPS to run the ICW?

@Ramblin Wreck I have done a lot of fishing at Hatteras and Beaufort. So I am familiar with the markers. Mostly fishing for flounder with the family.

Only semi-tricky part is leaving Winyah Bay. Stick to the right and you'll be fine. If you end up offshore, turn around and try again, lol.

I do agree though, that's probably my favorite area to ride, and even moreso on the trails on the Waccamaw river

Overall, yeah I would recommend a GPS, but it is certainly possible without one. At least for the part I was able to visit.

I would always recommend a gps but really just download the navionics app on you phone for a few dollars and that will suit you just fine on a ICW trip. ICW markers have a little yellow square or triange on them you will notice it on the red and green marker in @Ramblin Wreck picture above they identify your still on the ICW if you turn somewhere and no longer see those yellow markings on the red and green markers you have left the ICW.

#robert843 I did not know about the yellow marker on the signs. Thanks for the heads up!
