I'm not sure anyone can help me, but after having my starboard engine rebuilt, and only using it a few hours last year, it seized up. It sounded a little noisy, then abruptly stopped. Took the boat home. Check if it would rotate and it wouldn't. Pulled the plugs and number 1 and 4 were high and equal. Plugs 2 and 3 were not equal depth. They were about an inch different. I believe those are supposed the on the same plane. Should I have it rebuilt again (another $3000) or buy a new engine from somewhere?

Thanks,
Tim

was there a warranty on that engine you had rebuilt? Awful short time for the engine to seize. Could be poor rebuild.

Sounds like who ever rebuilt the engine, may have put a heli coil insert into to spark plug hole to make a repair to the head. Can't buy new but might be able to find a donor jet ski with the same engine.

Edit: All 4 plugs are the same # ? An inch is a lot.

That's why I think it broke a piston rod. I put a long screw driver in the spark plug holes and measured each one. It was about 1 inch difference between 2 and 3. I'll check the heli coil idea. thanks

Oh, you were measuring the distance from the top of the pistons to the top of the spark plug holes. I misunderstood, forget the heli coil idea. You have a bent or broken rod as you thought.
