Alright so this could be a dumb question but I have a tandem axle trailer with surge brakes (disc). I pulled the boat approx 5 miles today (stop and go due to red lights ) and once I arrived I noticed the starboard back wheel was starting to smoke . Pulled the wheel and it was scorching hot ! Also noticed the “bearing buddy” was pushes out (see photos ) A. What’s the best means to narrow down the potential issue and B. What information do I need to find and use to order parts ? Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you either have a hanging brake pad or you have bad bearings. I would remove the brakes, check your pads, and then take the entire hub off and redo the bearings. The bearings "should have" part numbers on them that you can use to reference at any autoparts store.

After a little further investigating I’m thinking the bearings are bad . The bearing buddy had some water in them so I’m assuming I’m burnt the bearings up. I’m planning on pulling the hub tomorrow and seeing what I can find . Thank you !
