I’m new to boating and checking out a 2007 SX230 near my house that seems like it’s in good condition. Is 19k a good deal on this boat if it’s in good shape? I would hire a marine surveyor to go over and sea trial the boat. If anyone lives in the Central New Jersey are as well I would pay to test this boat out for me. Just want to know if it’s a fair price for this boat if it’s in decent shape. Thank you!

The owner claims the boat also has about 200 hrs on the motors but there is no hour meter.

Looks to be in pretty good condition for it's age. I think the price is reasonable. When I think of New Jersey I think of saltwater and that looks like a painted steel trailer instead of galvanized so I'd be worried about it lasting in salt water or it's current condition if it's been in saltwater. I galvanized or aluminum trailer to replace that would probably be at least $4,000 making a reasonable price not such a good need. If you won't be in salt water it may be fine. You can purchase this kit to check the hours. For Yamaha YDS Diagnostic cable set for Outboard / WaveRunner / Jet boat | eBay Maybe someone local has one you can borrow or can go with you to check the hours.

Those are the non-HO motors at 140hp. Nice and reliable. Price looks ok but you might be able to push lower.

Check functioning of steering and FNR. And everything else.

Best of luck.

2006 and below is a lighter boat with lower freeboard. 2007+ is a little taller and drier ride.

Definitely not a 2007 model. I had one. 06 or earlier. Find the hin number, I can almost read it in the red circle. The last two numbers will be the year made.

Personally I would go with a 2007

2007 Boat of the year!

17 seasons of boating without any problems

200 hours on a 2007 is not unusual and means it probably was not idle for a season or two which is not a good thing for the MR1 engines

I would be cautious if he doesn’t know the correct year

Definitely take it on a water test

a jet ski shop can hook up a yds to read the actual hours, it would take them about 10 minutes
