Hi all - new member here. Also new jet boater; though not new to boating. This will be our first year with a new (to us) 2008 Yamaha 212x. We've always leased a dock from a local lake in Northeastern Ohio and kept our boat in the water during the entire season. We sold our smaller prop sport boat last winter in favor of this somewhat larger Yamaha. I've learned that the bilge in this model doesn't have a float, and the switch needs to be ON full-time for the bilge to operate. I've tested the bilge and the setup in my driveway with a hose, and sure enough - if the switch isn't on water would continue to rise. We only have one battery, and no switch. Keeping in mind that we will be wet slipping the boat all season in a dock on a lake - should I be concerned about (1) the current bilge setup running constantly and killing my battery, (2) if so, and the battery dies, and then the bilge cannot run - do I risk sinking the boat, and (3) is there a better setup that I should pursue before putting the boat in the water in 2-3 weeks?

Thanks to all!

I just added a second bilge for my new boat purchase. My boat is going to stay in a wet slip for weeks at a time.

Welcome to the forum @netcourt . I am starting my 13th season with my 2008 212X.
I highly recommend you disconnect Sirius unit located under the helm. It alone will drain your battery in a week. It draws a parasite current when off. Which leads me to suggesting you install a battery switch. Of course you would want the bilge pump upstream from that. Please check out the compilation assembled by @Scottintexas concerning our boats. Change your scupper if it has not been done. https://jetboaters.net/threads/known-issues-for-boat-years-2003-2009-with-mr-1-engines.20613/
