Hi all! I was idling waiting for my spot at the launch and the boat overheated for a couple of minutes. Now it won’t start or even turn over. Any thought?

If it won’t turn over… First check battery connections and battery level; do you keep it on a battery charger? Then check your safety switches, especially the clean out hatch switches to make sure they are getting depressed enough to start the motors.

Be a good idea to pull the clean out plugs and feel around the impellers to see if something got stuck. If you suck something up it’ll affect the cooling system and at idle you won’t feel the cavitation. Pulling the pumps to see if there was anything blocking the intake screens isn’t a bad idea either.

Also, check oil level and when is the last time you changed the spark plugs?

Idling is the best way to suck up something in the intake, block off the cooling intake and get something wedged in between the impeller and wear ring. As far as the no start think simple, in neutral?

When I turn the key for Port side engine, the lights flash red for a quick second and then I hear a clicking at the engine (assuming starter module) but it won’t turn over.

Just changed oil, plugs and filters in June.

Changed in June 2024

Yes, made sure it’s in neutral. Getting a clicking sound when key is turned. Is it the starter?

Here’s a video via YouTube on how to change the solenoid if needed:
