TR-1 hydro locked- smoking after repair

You are correct......and engine builder/create motor is far more likely to have less problem.......The problems in a dealer shop is that most times the guy that has the experience to do it right is not always the guy doing all the work. The main guy gets pulled off to solve other problems in the shop and other hand get involved in reassembly and before you know it some detail get Missed.

Well that's my opinion.

They found the solution it was simple, and you should be good to go out and enjoy........ caulk that one up in the learning collum. Thanks for the post you will help someone in the future.

Yes. It was crazy. We blew the water out, checked the oil for any intrusion (there was none), then we literally hauled ass around the lake to make sure we got it all out. At first I thought I had a dead battery until the starboard motor fired without a hitch. I even tasted the fluid on top of the pistons and all three were h2o. One more reason to carry a plug wrench.😁

Hey all, as season almost over, just a feedback or a closing for learning purposes. We clock almost 50 hours after repair and engine ran smooth. Maybe too much confidence, service was done in parts and cost us and the dealer almost the same as dropping a new unit. There is a lot of parts that could be affected and if you don’t inspect every single corner of the engine you set yourself to fail as a mechanic… the last part… a inexpensive seal cause an unnecessary waste of labour hours and dollars. Totally agree with FSH 210 Sport replace the whole thing, my vision is always try to save the most but I need to learn to see the big picture and count the odds as well. Lesson learned, NEVER TURN YOUR ENGINE WITH WATER ALREADY RUNNING FROM THE HOSE, AS STATED IN THE MANUAL, and READ THE BLOODY THING!!! lol. Thank you all that chipped in with knowledge and thoughts. It’s time to prepare for season 2025! All the best for you guys and for the ones that don’t have to winterize their canoes… KEEP WAVING!!! BE SAFE!

50 hours with no issues sounds like a winner!!! Also sounds like you were able to salvage some of your season which is also a win!
