I was out all day with wife and son on my LS2000, after a few hours the port engine tachometer starts indicating a pinned needle at maximum rpm even though the engine is running at 3000-5000 RPM’s, and the throttles are at normal 20-40% positions. When I come out of no-wake zones, and rev up the motors, the port engine would shut-down with what I think is the result of the CDI shutting down to protect it. The other really odd situation, I started the reverse engine maneuver to go backwards then pull the engine cut-off while slamming from reverse to forward to blow grass out of the impellers, only this time the port engine now stays running ! What do you think causes this ?
I have spent a great amount of time cleaning connectors and trying to get this boat to a place where I could go out and not have issues, but then this started. I previously experienced bad grounds in the electrical box, replaced the bendix spring and magneto, but here we go again.
Any ideas ? I did buy a spare CDI months ago, before I discovered a bad magneto, so I have the ability to replace it, but I would love to hear if anyone else have seen this.
