Good afternoon all

I am about to buy a 232 Limited and wanted to know the gas mileage, or gallons per hour..

Thank you!

I have the same engines but 21 foot. I have averaged about 5.25 gallons per hour.
Congratulations on the boat. Those were exceptionally nice.

It depends on a lot—number of passengers, speed, towing a tube/wakeboard, etc. I find it to be pretty good for the most part but I don’t usually go that far.

Thank you so I should be looking at around 6 to 6.5 for mine.

Yes GPH depends on a lot of factors. Miles per gallon for a given load is a better comparison. I saw one study recently where the mileage at 50MPH was one half of that at 25MPH. 3MPG vs 1.5MPG I would like to see more test data posted on this forum.

Comparing my first 20 hours in my 2009 Seadoo 180SE 255HP vs the first 20 hours with my 2021 VRX 203 300HP: 4 GPH vs 7.5 GPH ! However the useage was no doubt different. Not too happy with the new mileage - next season I will limit the speed more for cruise trips and use the ECO mode.

I have extensive ( about 60 hours) gph tracking for my 2015 v1 ( MR1 non HO engine). We average about 3.5 gph and most use is tubing. Two adults on the ski and two 8 year olds on the tube.
the lowest I have seen was 2.75gph and the highest I have seen is 5.5 gph. This high usage included WOT for a couple of hours and the remaining was barely planing on 2-3 foot waves with a very loaded ski ( 400lbs to 450lbs). So your boat I would say you have to double that.

on my 240 with twin 1.8 HO I get about 10.5gph on normal usage. We typically cruise between 20 to 30 mph in a rather calm lake. Pulling the kids on a tube barely makes an impact on the fuel usage for the boat. We typically show about 2.3mpg while using the boat, but I deliberately adjust speed so the computer shows above 2.0mpg

On lake situation I plan for 100 mile range on both the boat and the ski. If I was planing anything more than 50miles off shore I am bringing extra fuel. Refueling to Bimini Sands 49.5 gallons was a wake up call for me and how I decided to plan future trips.

I have basically the same boat and did a 25-30mph,120 mile cruise and got 3mpg. Fuel consumption is not bad for the HP that we have..

We run the Ohio River from Portsmouth to Ripley and we are fueling up basically the same - 2 stern drive bow riders. Chappy and a Glastron with 5.0 and 5.7 engines. Our boat seems to be a little better on gas, but we usually aren’t as aggressive with the throttle and choose to cruise at a slower pace.

babin sounds about right. i have an 08 232 limited and i usually go on long day trips but i havent ever recorded my mileage to come up with any hard #'s. i usually cruise at 8400-8600 which gives me 30-32 mph and go prob 100-120 miles and at the end of the day burn maybe 38-40 gal. im a little under 1/4 tank when i return.

Upon further review, it appears I did not include all the fill ups in my SeaDoo calculation. The hours from the log included all summer but I had lost the fuel figures for the first two months. Bottom line the figures for both boats will be much closer. I am guessing the SeaDoo was more like 6.5 to 7 GPH. with it having less HP and weight.

I think your numbers are based on median average from all use, not actual consumption at given speeds/rpms?

The key to fuel efficiency with these boats is finding the point where the engines rapidly increase consumption due to hydrodynamic drag and impeller intake efficiency. On the BRP and Yamaha 1.8l engines it's about 6500rpm where it starts to really climb. I try to keep it below that unless we're in go fast mode. Anywhere from 5000-6500rpm is fairly decent for zipping around on plane. Best mileage for me is 5100rpm 27mph 3.0mpg consuming 9.0gph which is where I keep it if we're cruising a long distance...otherwise anything up to 6500rpm is fine with me.

Your 2021 boat will have a gph rate which shows actual fuel consumption at any given time. Check it out while idling, cruising, and WOT to see how it changes with speed.

By the way, what's the top speed you've managed with the 300hp engine?

Good info. Yes my numbers were for median use. A lot of cruising and more occasional days tubing. I am just learning now how much the mileage drops off dramatically at high rpms. My boat will do 50mph, however next season I will try to keep it under 30 - 35 when cruising. I am not aware that my boat will display actual gph rates at whatever speed, however I am still learning all of its' features. It has an ECO mode that I haven't fully explored. It apparently limits torque but I don't see how that will make much difference when cruising at a fixed speed. It also has a cruise mode. I have found the fuel gauge is very accurate. Too bad there is no odometer. I may do some controlled tests next season.

Do you have the tach gauges or the Medalion touch screen? Both can show technical data for the engines...check the manual on how to do it, but it should be there. Might not have a miles odo but it will have an hour meter. I know when I looked at mine, I had hit something like 743 total miles on the last outing...wow didn't think I'd done that much in 68 hours this summer, but it adds up. I'll be finishing the prep to tuck her away for winter this weekend and will take a pic of the info screen for my records. And then that's it till spring.
?

Mine has the analogue main gauges. It does have the hours, depth, direction, mode etc on the digital screen. Doesn't appear to log miles - probably need the Medalian version for that. Also don't think it has gph info. The manual is not too descriptive of all the display options.
