I have the same engines but 21 foot. I have averaged about 5.25 gallons per hour.
Congratulations on the boat. Those were exceptionally nice.
It depends on a lot—number of passengers, speed, towing a tube/wakeboard, etc. I find it to be pretty good for the most part but I don’t usually go that far.
We run the Ohio River from Portsmouth to Ripley and we are fueling up basically the same - 2 stern drive bow riders. Chappy and a Glastron with 5.0 and 5.7 engines. Our boat seems to be a little better on gas, but we usually aren’t as aggressive with the throttle and choose to cruise at a slower pace.I have basically the same boat and did a 25-30mph,120 mile cruise and got 3mpg. Fuel consumption is not bad for the HP that we have..
Upon further review, it appears I did not include all the fill ups in my SeaDoo calculation. The hours from the log included all summer but I had lost the fuel figures for the first two months. Bottom line the figures for both boats will be much closer. I am guessing the SeaDoo was more like 6.5 to 7 GPH. with it having less HP and weight.Yes GPH depends on a lot of factors. Miles per gallon for a given load is a better comparison. I saw one study recently where the mileage at 50MPH was one half of that at 25MPH. 3MPG vs 1.5MPG I would like to see more test data posted on this forum.
Comparing my first 20 hours in my 2009 Seadoo 180SE 255HP vs the first 20 hours with my 2021 VRX 203 300HP: 4 GPH vs 7.5 GPH ! However the useage was no doubt different. Not too happy with the new mileage - next season I will limit the speed more for cruise trips and use the ECO mode.
I think your numbers are based on median average from all use, not actual consumption at given speeds/rpms?Upon further review, it appears I did not include all the fill ups in my SeaDoo calculation. Do you have the tach gauges or the Medalion touch screen? Both can show technical data for the engines...check the manual on how to do it, but it should be there. Might not have a miles odo but it will have an hour meter. I know when I looked at mine, I had hit something like 743 total miles on the last outing...wow didn't think I'd done that much in 68 hours this summer, but it adds up. I'll be finishing the prep to tuck her away for winter this weekend and will take a pic of the info screen for my records. And then that's it till spring.Good info. Yes my numbers were for median use. A lot of cruising and more occasional days tubing. I am just learning now how much the mileage drops off dramatically at high rpms. My boat will do 50mph, however next season I will try to keep it under 30 - 35 when cruising. I am not aware that my boat will display actual gph rates at whatever speed, however I am still learning all of its' features. It has an ECO mode that I haven't fully explored. It apparently limits torque but I don't see how that will make much difference when cruising at a fixed speed. It also has a cruise mode. I have found the fuel gauge is very accurate. Too bad there is no odometer. I may do some controlled tests next season.
