Can someone give me a few options on a replacement head unit for my 2011 242 Limited S? The stock one is on its way out. Thank you!

I never used mine. Bypassed it straight to a wet sounds 420 and used that to control all zones and Bluetoothed straight to it for music. It’s an option if you don’t need an actual radio where you are at.

I have a 2011 AR 240 and installed a Fusion MS-RA70NSX.

Did the same in our 2012 242. Honestly, you can put any head unit you want in these boats, there is nothing special about them. I did have to add a backer plate, as the hole from the stocker was bigger. I also put the Fusion NMEA remote on the stern. Same display as the dash, and great control from the water without batteries.

Not to hijack the thread...also put the fusion head unit in my 2010 Ar240. Which remote did you put in on the transom?

Any will work but the nrx300 is powered, replicates the head unit display and on a NMEA network. It’s worth the extra money

I'm looking at doing the same thing on the same boat. Not an expert in these types of installations so wondering if it's something I can do myself? Didn't know what you meant by the backer plate.

I should have said "filler plate" The Fusion that I installed is a single DIN size, the size that used to be the norm in cars for many years (roughly 2" x 7") The stock stereo in our boats is a double DIN, like twice the height. So the new radio would just fall through that hole in the dash.

A nicely shaped filler plate covers that big hole, and allows you to cut a nice clean hole for the new stereo to provide support and fill the dash nicely as if from the factory. I thought I would need one in the stern to cover the hole from the old remote, but the new remote was a tad larger and filled it really well. It looks factory as well.

If you search Amazon for Stereo Filler plate you get all sorts of options. It's just a piece of plastic. You just need to do some measuring. In fact, while I was waiting for mine to arrive, I cut a piece of HDPE to hold it in place while I did my wiring and testing.
