I’ve been lurking on this site for quite a while. There is a lot of good information here I’ve been looking closely at the Yamaha jet boat because of the reliability and layout. I also like the fact that the engines are normally aspirated. I have found a 2012 Yamaha 242 limited without the wake tower that is in good shape with low hours. I also have found the chaparral 203 wake with the tower for the same money and low hours and in very good shape.

I thought it would be worth double checking on this form to confirm the research that I’ve completed that suggest that the chaparral may have some reliability Concerns related to the supercharger and electronics. It also doesn’t have a flushable toilet like the Yamaha has which is nice feature to have for our family.
The river that we boat on is is slightly brackish and can get fairly choppy because it is approximately 3 km wide in the area where we do most of our boating.

I am pretty sure that the Yamaha is more suitable for our needs, but it is older and I have to travel six hours each way to pick it up and the chaparral is local. Would appreciate your thoughts and experiences with these boats. I will likely be picking one of them up this Saturday.

The Yamaha turned out not to be what I was expecting. Going to check out the Chap soon.
