Hello everyone! I don't post often on blog sites, but with help from this site I was able to avoid a costly dealer trip and wasted time waiting on service.

Took out my 2014 AR192 twice this year and both times it ran terrible. Worst it's ever run and I was going to take it in and have it looked at.

I've worked on a ton of boats, motorcycles, small engines, etc and figured I'd give some maintenance a shot.

Yesterday I changed the oil, replaced the plugs (115 hours on the boat), added a full can of marine seafoam to the topped off 30 gallon tank, and took out the air filter to check it. The air filter was surprisingly dirty deep in the folds, so I used compressed air and gently blew all of the crud out.

The biggest thing I noticed when I pulled the air filter out is the large rubber hose/boot that connected the air filter housing to the intake on the engine was loose at the bottom, and slipped right off. It wasn't seated completely straight and I suspect it was sucking in more air than it should have been.

I straightened the hose/boot out, spun the band clamp so I could get at it from the top with a long flathead screwdriver, and re-seated the hose/boot onto the intake and made sure it was super tight and secure (pulled on it hard to make sure it wouldn't pop off).

Took it to the lake with some friends who brought their boat out with us (in case it we had problems and I needed a tow).

Fired it up and immediately noticed how quiet and perfect it ran. Spent the afternoon ripping it around the lake. It's the best it has ever ran!

I'm not sure which steps fixed the problem but I suspect mainly the loose air intake hose/boot was the main culprit. If I didn't pull the air filter I would have never noticed it.

Wanted to thank the group as now my boat is running perfectly and these really are easy boats to work on for routine maintenance and checks!
