Question,
My buddy just bought the above boat. It won't start up and idle when it's cold. Albeit 85 degrees outside.
Twin vortex supercharged 205 hp motors
Both engines will kick over ,idle for 2 to 4 seconds and stall. I am sure they are fuel injected.
It takes at least 5 thrives to start.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks group
Todd

I don't have any specific knowledge of the Vortex or the motors in question, but a lot of experience with motors in general. It generally comes down to one of three things; fuel, spark or compression. Given it is a new boat and it is both motors, compression seems highly unlikely. I also don't like the theory of spark plugs since it is both engines. That leaves fuel which is a common item to both. Has this been a problem since the boat was purchased or is it since the most recent tank of gas? Did the boat sit a while between uses and possibly some water in the gas? I know with the Yamaha's that it is also critical to make sure your battery connections are nice and tight. I would double check that and ask him if he has done any work to the boat lately that would have impacted the electrical system (i.e., new stereo or other mod). Let us know how he makes out.

Thanks for the quick reply.
As far as i know he hasnt touched a thing.
Boat has 13 hrs on it. (Was a demo). He bought it with 7hrs. Just filled the tank. No mods. I told him to buy a yamaha but oh well.... when you turn the ignition key to on you can hear an audible priming of the fuel system for approximately 3 or 4 seconds. If i push the start button (has two seperate push buttons) after the priming they wont start just cycle. If i push start during priming they will idle then stall. It takes multiple attempts to get a constant run and smooth idle.
I will have him check the fuel filter for possible water. Thanks again

Verify that the connectors on the fuel pumps are not inverted.
The one with green tape identifier should be on Starboard side.

@Fourjets - pulling up a post from August.... What did your friend ever find out on his boat not firing? Just curious and be nice to add it to this post, so if any of run into a similar issue in the future we can refer back here for some details.
