No surprise, they are expensive.

My local dealer finally got a 2015 242ls, it was already sold before it was delivered so I couldn't climb around it. It was black with a black tower. Below are the out the door prices of it and some SeaDoo Sparks. This is at a sales tax rate of 9.75% (Alameda, CA).

242ls: just under $70k ( includes boat, trailer, standard warranty)
Sparks ( without trailer)
-2 seat/60 hp $6,800
-2 seat/90 hp $7,600
-3 seat/90 hp $8,800

I really like the 2015 242LS, but at that price point I think there is a fair amount of competition and some of the value proposition is going away. It will be interesting to see how they hold their value over the next few years. Given that I live in the Northeast and struggle to get 30 hours/year on the boat, I prefer to purchase a gently owned, low-hour used boat at half to two-thirds the price of new.

$70K seems too high to me. My guess is that we will see a decline in 242 sales and an increase in the sales for 240 and 212 models.

I am out at 70K....55k is pushing it for a new boat. With the reliability of these boats and all of the cool upgrade items out there I will not be in the market for a new boat for awhile. I just got mine the way I like it. :D

Keep in mind the $70k includes sales tax and dealer prep. It's a true out the door price for me. The salesman said that yamaha may be offering an extended warranty for no additional cost but he wasn't sure. Also, they only have 3 more coming this year and expect to sell them quickly even though they won't know what color they are until they are shipped. Some are fortunate to be able to get some extras thrown in with the sale but this place doesn't seem to be willing to give up much if anything extra. If you don't ask for the shipping cover you will probably not get it.

Having recently paid off my boat loan buying a new one boat on installment payments is the last thing on my mind but I would like to check one out personally.

I was really there to see some Sparks and get pricing for the same but they didn't have any in stock so all I got was the pricing. Ironically, seadoo pushes a $5k Pwc but after dealer prep it's about 30% more than that.

I think that I would spend $70K on a car before I would spend it on a boat.
WARNING-THREAD HIJACK IN PROGRESS
This raises an interesting debate we had at work recently, spending on a car/truck versus a boat.
I would not spend that much on a vehicle but would drop that cash on a boat and not look back.
My vehicles run and fulfill their job descriptions but I'm not concerned with car comfort or looks at all. However I want my boat to be a thing of beauty and I enjoy the luxury even though I'm in a car lots more than in the boat.
Each to his own I guess.

The SeaDoo Spark pricing raises some VERY interesting questions and concerns.
From the outset, BRP DESIGNED the pricing to NOT follow normal retail pricing scenarios.
For example, the BRP SPARK PRICE, regardless of model, provides the dealer "about" a
$200 TOTAL profit margin. That is wayyyyyyyyyy less than normal BRP SeaDoo profit scenarios.
That is why many "nice" dealers are FORCED to add back in freight charges (approx $395), the price of a tank of gas, and many other dealers are adding back in "set-up" charges. They virtually have to in order to make a decent profit.
Folks, like it or not, those are facts - FACTS - not innuendos.
I have a very good friend who is a large(r) BRP and Yamaha dealer. And these facts come courtesy of him.
And Yes ! There has been a lot of dealer grmbling at the BRP dealer meetings. But so far, BRP has not budged.
More to come. right now I gotta run.
Wishing everyone a most Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving !

I like have nice vehicles but I couldn't justify going out and buying a new $70K truck, but I could very well do so on a boat.

I believe you could get one for sub $60k + tax and licencing.

Sparks ( without trailer)
-2 seat/60 hp $6,800
-2 seat/90 hp $7,600
-3 seat/90 hp $8,800
I believe the price of Sparks could go from $5k to $8.5k real quick depending on the options you equip them with.

I have a spark, w/o the trailer it's actually pretty difficult to add that much money to the base model, trust me I looked when we won ours ;)

Thanks, I may be able to get MSRP if I'm willing to travel 500 miles to San Diego but based on what I've heard and read getting it for less than that new from a dealer is not likely. Besides once I add tax back in (remember I'm looking at almost 10%) I'm closing in on $70K again. No thanks, I plan to burn a payment coupon or a few every time I light a fire this Winter instead of start paying on some new books of them.

I may be in the market for a used Spark. The new prices are just too much for me to pay, especially for PWCs which get used less than my boat. However, the Spark seems to be the least expensive way to get into a new PWC. It doesn't look like the prices have changed since last year. Below are pics of pricing that I took last year, the Spark was 3 person 90 hp version before taxes and without trailer. I believe the A.D.M.(?) includes or consists solely of "dealer prep".

Since it's hard to compare sales tax (or TTT..tax tag title), as this varies by region, it's best to compare taxable amount, minus extras.

I paid $59,500 (with galvanized trailer), no extras on my 2015 242LS. 1st one the dealer had. TTT and deluxe cover came to about $64k

I just did that in early October. Got a 1996 WaveBlaster 2 for my son with specs similar to the Spark 3up. I also have two 06 FX WaveRunners. I'm just toying with the idea of buying a Spark because it's a 4 stroke and I've found 4 stokes to be more reliable, easier to start, maintain and they smoke less. If my son and I end up wrenching on the WaveBlaster more than riding it a Spark may be in our future quickly.
