New to the forum - - thanks for letting me join.

My Chaparral has two Roxtax 250's. I'm getting a 'engine' light on the port side. Runs fine for a while, then it goes into 'slow mo' mode. Does anyone know what to look for and how to reset the engine light once fixed.

Thanks--

Start by getting the fault code. If it's active, it'll show up in your settings. That will tell us a lot more about the issue.

If it's not active, then it won't be there. But if it's in limp mode, it should be.

Resetting depends on the problem. Some reset themselves when you fix it. Others require software. Either BUDS home edition or Candoo Pro or a dealer.

Thank you sir. No fault codes reflected. Engine light comes on only for a few seconds. Motor starts and runs, but at any given point it goes into limp mode. Almost thinking it might be a sensor, water pump (slight overheating). I'll look into BUDS, or Candoo Pro. Unfortunately no Vortex dealers here in Phx AZ.

Thanks

The code will likely be active when you have it in limp mode. But yeah, with no dealers around, you'll eventually need software. I'd definitely consider that. And it will show you past codes too.

Ok thank you again for your time. I'm looking at the Candoo Pro and see several different models. Is there one specific I should look at?

Sea-Doo option. Your engine is identical to Sea-Doos (and Scarabs for that matter).

Luc, thank you again for all help. Received my Candoo Pro today. Not sure where to plug it in (rookie and I'll admit it). MY screen did display a few codes today, where might one get the definitions for what the codes are saying?

U16B6 Port
U16B8 Port
U0100 Port

Usually a google search does the trick but since I have the service manual, see attached.

So all of these relate to a communication problem with the ECM. Besides a bad ECM, check all wires for electrical issues, damage, reseat the plugs, etc.

The plug from Candoo uses the white connector right by the battery. It's usually clipped to the fuse box there and has a white cap. It could be dangling as well.

for you Scarab and Vortex guys (and us Seadoo-ans), there is a code scanner option that is less expensive that the Candoo, link below. someone on the Vortex facebook forum used it successfully to check and clear codes. the big plus for me is that it doesn't require a separate laptop to operate, everything is built in. at less than $400, i'll probably pick one up over the winter just in case. link below is the official website, but there are a couple of different sellers with slightly lower prices.

Good to know that exists. Thanks for the info.

Plugged in the Candoo Pro, no faults showing yet the 'check engine' light still appears. URG.........
