Was looking over my trailer while the boat was in the water the other day. Noticed a spot on one of the inside bunks where the carpet is wearing through and showing the board underneath. It's about 3" long on the inboard side of the bunk only. Kinda surprised to see this, as the boat is new. It's been on and off the trailer about 12 times total.

Have others experienced this? I'm wondering if the bunk is out of alignment. I checked the bunks and the pivot pretty freely, so I would think they self align to the boat when it come on.

Can I put some new carpet over just this area in place of replacing the entire bunk covering?

Same on my 2020 Trailer 2019 Boat. Been thinking about getting those SurFix boards to go over them.

My 2018 is the same way. Not worn all the way through yet but close. I haven't really thought about what I'm going to do yet.

Those plastic Surfix look interesting. I have never seen them in person, I wonder if they scratch gelcoat at all?

My trailer is doing the same thing in two different locations.

I'm thinking I might just pick up some new carpeting and put a second layer patch over the worn area.

I thought I was pulling the trailer in plenty deep and when I load, I back the trailer in to totally dunk the bunks, then pull up a little. Sees like there's just one area that takes a lot of pressure / rubbing. Can't image that' good for the gel coat on the boat either.

Got to adjust the bunks and make sure the boat sits right. My boat has been to from Dallas to lake Powell and Miami and the bunks looked like new. That includes 40 or 50 loads/unloads. My ski trailer bunks look like shit though.
I would recarpet andavoid plastic. That can ruing your gelcoat faster than you think.
