Three years ago I installed Kicker KM61, 6.5 in, 4 ohm speakers. Last fall the front speakers seemed to have sound blown. Bought a new set, installed them and they ran for a few minutes and blew. I got a warranty set of speakers, installed them too and again, worked for a few minutes and started to sound bad, so I cut them before any damage could occur. Then I went to my head unit, the stock Jensen JM3S and it was extremely hot to the touch. No amp or anything, never had issues with the upgraded speakers for three years. Anyone experienced this or have any input on where to go next?

I searched the forum and google search and it seems like multiple people have had issues with that stock head unit blowing speakers. If your not a super audio head like me I would recommend replacing the head unit and getting a small amp for a couple hundred bucks and not have to worry about it in the future. If you want a replacement that can fit in the same hole you could even get this Kicker 46KMC2 Personally i would spend a little extra money and go with this though Kicker KMC5 and an amp. However both have a built in amp for now if you want to piece it together.
