Had her out on the water last weekend, and I noticed the steering was really stiff when turning to the starboard side. It did not want to turn all the way, until I forced it. After I did, it didn't want to go straight again. Seems like there is something sticking, maybe a cable? I looked behind the steering wheel at the steering assembly and could hear the gears when I turned the wheel. It sounds like some teeth are missing or something. I don't see a way to lube the system. Any ideas?

I have searched this topic, but all I come up with is a problem with corrosion from salt water causing the cables to bind, but I only have 16 hours on the boat and only in fresh water. Thanks all for the help.

I was hoping it might be something I could fix. Dealership is 3 hours away and booked a month out. I might live with it for a while.

So I dropped the boat off at the dealership in early July. The dealership was 3 weeks out before they could look at the issue. Took one look at it and said the helm control and cables needed to be replaced. Did not really say what the problem is, but that they needed new parts. So, just like everyone is seeing parts are months out. Early October is what they are saying on the parts. I had plans for Labor Day on the lake that I have to cancel now. I bought a new boat so that I would not have to worry about reliability. Man, was I wrong. Blown engine, had the boat out for 3 months now this. I'm not counting all the countless nuts and bolts I have had to replace myself. I really hope this is the end of the madness.
