Hi everybody
New jet boater owner here. All previous experience is with IO’s. I’ve taken this boat out twice and I love it; a little over complicated with the controls, but super fun. On the last run of the day, I started having an odd problem:
When I would accelerate from a stop, the motors would rev up to full power and then immediately slow down to aroumd 5500. It did this repeatedly, and then finally after going to neutral and floating a bit, it went back to full power. And then it would happen again the next start.
My wife mentioned I ran over some reeds that were floating down the river….could that have caused it? It seems like if the jet had debris the rpm would still go to max, but you just wouldn’t go anywhere…
I was thinking it was some kind of limp mode maybe? But there was no lights indicating a problem on the dash? And weird how it would come and go…

Hoping somebody with more jet experience has an idea of what the problem is ?
Thanks
Eric

Sounds like cavitation to me, had that issue on my 212X. I would inspect your intake grill and verify you have no weeds or debris of any kind in there.

BTW, congrats on the boat, just took out my 255XE last night for the first time.
