What has anyone done to add led interior lighting? Got a 195s that I want to make a little more miami-vice-ish...

I added strip lighting underneath all the side bolsters, the bench seat, and the helm. It looked really great at night. I went with red, but if I did it again I would go RGB. The red sometimes kind of looked pink or orange. This was on my AR192 so interior is obviously a little different, but you could do the same thing.

How did you power them?

Since I went with a solid color it was super easy. I just connected them to the switch in the dash for interior lights.

You can buy a cheap 12v rgb controller on ebay, rgb ribbon cable, and 5050 weatherproof rgb strips. Example link below. Can't vouch for this product so you need to do your research. A lot of these kits come with a 120v to 12v power adapter. The boat already is 12v so yuo can throw the adapter in the garbage

1.install controller behind helm and tap switched 12v into interior light switch
2. run 4/18AWG stranded cable around the interior of the boat to RGB controller
3. cut RGB strips from the roll
4. solder 24-36" ribbon cable leads to the strip from the comfort of your home (its difficult to solder so its best to have a good workspace)
5. marine shrinkwrap. these have an adhesive inside.
6. bring the pre-soldered strips to your boat and splice into the 4-18AWG cable

This is the best way because it's easy to expand and add strips.

I have been an opt7 customer for probably about 10 years. These opt7 are the best marine LED strip lights that I’ve ever used. Since I made them as cockpit lights, my boat stands out when docked at night, and I received a lot of compliments. In all fairness, they’re much better than FLO LED boat lights.
