Hey guys, I have recently acquired a regal rush xp jet boat, 120hp, the seller told me it lacked power at the end of last year. I don't know much about them, I just noticed however, when I move the throttle forward and reverse, the deflector shield does not move, it seems to have resistance, should this be wide open when full throttle? Should it more with the throttle? This is on and with the engine off, thanks everyone, please help, any info is greatly appreciated

When you put the throttle in the forward position it must be completely up and out of the way, it doesn't move out of the way with more throttle input.
Neutral should be half and half blocking and reverse should be blocking it completely

There is no movement on the gate when I move forward or reverse

I think I understand, if it's slightly forward or fully depressed it should be all the way up??

Yes.... disconnect the cable at the bucket and verify if its a cable that is frozen or the bucket pivots frozen

Shat if the cable is frozen?

Also I started it today inte drive, ran about 10sec then I turned it off, is this ok?

And she smoked like crazy

With the yamaha’s, part of the winterizing procedure is to spray fogging oil into the engines. The first time you start in the spring burns that oil off and smokes. So, it “could” be normal. Not sure if this is your case or not, though.

Was it ok to start? Normal for some oil to drip off of the bottom of the jet?

It’s fine to start and run for a little bit. If that’s a 2 stroke engine or was fogged before storage a bit of oil dripping would not be out of the ordinary. I don’t know much about this particular model of boat unfortunately.

Hey guys, my regal was running today np, now I won't start for the life of it. Was about an hour later , not both times were in my drive with the water running

Any thoughts on what now?

How much fuel is in it?

Tank half full, primer bulb hard from gas not old
