Currently I have all of my amps in the factory locations plus an additional Syn-dx4. Everything is mounted to the walls and you have to pull the amps out to tune. I do not like the setup very much so something will be done about it. I am actually trading my polk 5000.5 amp for another polk 4000.4 amp.( I like these amps they do VERY good so no amp debate in this thread ). I am also purchasing another dedicated sub amp because I am putting in another M10IB5 sub. Probably going with a M600/1. Anyways I have 2 options, build an amp rack in the current location under the port cabin seat for the four amps and have them so I can access the adjustment knobs, or 2) Pull everything out and run everything behind the helm. I would have to pull all new speaker wire and very costly power and ground cable.

Thoughts, ideas, pictures?

Mine came factory with a polk 5000.5 and a polk 4000.4. I will see if I can find a picture. Also something to keep in mind is I am going to have to upgrade to larger batteries for the stereo also.

Not my pic but the 2 factory amps are mounted to this board under the port cabin seat. One in the location that is shown and one above that. I hate it on that board because all of the tuning is on the left side of the amp.

Do you have access to metal fabrication? I would just fabricate something that sits in the cubby and stacks the amps at an angle, with the controls facing outward.

Things are tight under that port seat because of the battery box and ballast bag. I personally would want to avoid moving it all. My only idea would be relocate things as wire allows over the the battery box but still out of the way of the bag and face all of the controls up on the amps.

Yes I can fab metal but I don't really think metal is a good option in a boat. Maybe the same thing using UHMW , starboard, or birch wood and poly it and carpet over.

I am going to add a 250 amp circuit breaker and then a 4 position stinger fused power and ground blocks. I will run a single "0" guage wire from the battery to each block. I will actually be freeing up some wires doing it this way.

Birch would work well too. I couldn't find a great picture, but this would be the general idea, have them stacked over the batteries and the controls facing out.

Just a quick sketch. Maybe something like this out of Delrin.

Can the first two amps be put together on the same shelf?

Possibly!

EDIT****

Now I need to see if it will actually fit.

It measures 18"long x 14" wide x 14" tall. Might be a little big yet. Won;t know that till tonight.

Went home and measured, very tight in there. Also a ton of wires.

So I thought maybe if I move the battery trays around it might net me more room.

Still no room for a battery upgrade. I think the only choice i have is a blank canvas behind the helm.

Ok - so could you do picture number 2, put the batteries in the top right corner, and then the amps with the controls facing out in the front of storage (probably angled again). You could probably build something to stack the batteries and do 4 if you decided to add more.

I have a game plan now, I just like thinking out loud, wires are a mess because I just pulled an amp out to trade.

I went to the other side if you don't want to move what you got but just add. I agree its a pain to mount there and need to tune it before putting it in. I have been able to make adjustments to my Polk 4000.4 by leaving the switches to the outside but still sucks. I do not have an X so not sure if the ballast is in this location or not there.

04E3BD5A-9F68-4410-ACF2-8E523EA8A9AA.png I turned my amps on end last summer to allow for tuning. Made all the difference also moved the batteries back a few inches.
