Thanks for all the input, I'm guess I'm glad to see that swing is normal on our boats. Appreciate all the responses

box anchor + shore spike is a great combo.

No one mentions a sea anchor. All you really need is a parachute type device on a line, doesn't even have to be fancy. But it will hold resistance when the boat tries to swing if tossed out back, and that will restrict the swing considerable...but boats on anchor pivot along an arc created at the end of the rode from the anchor to the bow. Normal, and enjoyable to watch the sky change at night. In a pack of boats, you need to put out enough sea anchor to match the swing rate of other boats. A 5 gallon bucket on a rope could do it just fine too.

It cost me $350 to make a stainless box anchor myself! Stainless steel is a precious metal! What @Norboo didn't say and if you don't know Slide Anchor products...their stainless box anchors and shore spikes are a high mirror polish! Having attempted that myself, I can tell you that if you don't have a staff of low paid chinese workers in China to do this work, you can't afford to do it! Those are nice pieces Norboo...hope you get what you want for them!
