Okay, so I’ve read some threads, found two videos on YouTube, seen a couple pics.......but did anyone ever have some ACTUAL success surfing behind an AR210 with the TR-1 motors? I’ve been seeing some great advise on surfing Yamaha’s but most of them are regarding the 1.8 motors (212’s, 240’s, 250’s, etc....). What was the most weight and where did the ballast go to produce a wave good enough to push a surfboard decently?
Thus far I’ve got a wake booster I found on Marketplace, a board (Ronix Marsh Mellow Thrasher), and a rope. I’ve been collecting this stuff as I find it cheap because we always have wanted to play with surfing but didn’t want to break the bank for a failed experiment.
General consensus for ballast seems to be swim step bag (725 lbs), ski locker bag, and maybe some surf side ballast as well. My biggest worry was putting in more weight than the TR-1’s could pull and reach surf speed.
I know the board is important but I don’t want to spend a bunch of money if the experiment fails. If we CAN produce a decent wave (and I’m not expecting real surf boat stuff here) I will likely buy a Slingshot Coaster or the equivalent.
Should/could I run a 650 lb. bag made for the 19’s? 400lbs in the locker? I just don’t want to over do the weight the engines can handle. Lot’s of questions and thoughts here so I’m hoping someone who has tried it with the TR-1’s will chime in as I haven’t seen any real follow up after the questions were posed (which is my initial worry).
Here is what the plan for initial set-up will be:
1) Wakebooster
2) 725lb bag on the swim step
3) 400lb bag in the ski locker
4) Hydrophase Ridesteady
After this I will actually document the successes and failures for future reference in here with pics and videos. Thank you guys for your time
