Guest, we are pleased to announce that Hydrophase Ridesteady is offering an extra $100 off for JETBOATERS.NET members on any Ridesteady for Yamaha Speed Control system purchased through March 7th, 2025. Ridesteady is a speed control system (“cruise control”) that uses GPS satellites or engine RPM to keep your boat at the set speed you choose. On twin engine boats, it will also automatically synchronize your engines.
Guys/gals, I'm looking forward to your impeller performance reports! The more information the better, as long as it's real.
On that different note, "Putting an an impeller designed for use on a 1.8 L engine into a boat or PWC powered by 1 L engine does not sound like a good idea, even if they are interchangeable..." - well, all these boats and skis use everything on a spectrum, from extreme slim NuJets to duals. Not sure what the point is here.
Ya know, there is a way to respectfully debate on the internet without being a condescending ass, and you just simply haven't mastered that trait yet, @Ronnie . I promise, it's also ok just to let things go sometimes, too.
@swatski is not only is one of the coolest human beings I've ever met, but he's also done more extensive and documented testing on this subject, on this forum, than anyone else. He posts proven results, and his ideas, with hard data and video. Not what some of his friends have done and said. He's also presented everything with the utmost respect, while still keeping a completely open mind to other input.
I'm sure you have some valuable insight, hell I know you do, but you suck at delivering it sometimes. I read your comments as disrespectful to someone I consider a friend, and while I'm sure he doesn't let it bother him, I just felt I had to say something.
This place is awesome because there is a certain amount of respect for everyone. Just try to maintain that respect. I'm seeing more and more posts lately that seem to deviate from that, and hell, now I'm guilty of it too. If I'm reading it wrong, then I do sincerely apologize. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's observed this trait as of lately though. (speaking generally here).

@Ronnie I apologize if I frustrated you, NO DISRESPECT INTENDED. I can be a tone-deaf blockhead when I am focused on something, I'm told. I'm also told I can be an ass. Both true.
I certainly appreciate your contributions here which outnumber mine by something like 100:1. I will try to behave and be mindful.
But the important thing is, this forum is a fantastic place to exchange ideas and get to the bottom of things, while we are all busy.
It seems there are mixed reviews here on this but I can tell all one thing for sure. If you are telling me the after market impeller is giving you less cavitation then the stock one on acceleration something was wrong with you stock impeller and I would expect you to feel the after market unit was giving you better performance because something was wrong with the stock one. My 2011 SX240 has zero cavitation on acceleration on flat water with a stock impeller if you are feeling any with the stock impeller something is out of whack with it.
@ swatski , I didn't feel frustrated or disrespected and there is no reason for you to apologize. We are not going to agree on every subject raised here, if we did this forum would have little value. I hope you continue to post as you have been. I to value your contributions. For example, in regard to the cone, I would was tempted to buy some when you first raised them but decided against it given your conclusion and since I already had after market Impllers / didn't have a lag or cavition going to wot quickly anymore. That string saved me $600 or so. Lastly, I think we all realize that The number of posts I've made has no relationship to their quality or accuracy, it just reflects how much time I've spent on this site.
@veedubtek ,other than your post speaks for itself and you, I have no comment.
@robert843, I may have used the wrong term but everytime I get into a bigger / heavier jet boat it takes longer for it to it to grab or bite into the water from idle when I slam the throttles to WOT, even in a new 240 jet boat with under 10 hours (I got to go on a test/demo drive with a Yamaha dealer a few years ago). The new impellers stopped that for me but looking back its had for me to say that the benefit was worth the expense and effort. It may be worth it to someone who is more focused on wakeboarding and wakesurfing but not I. The only way I could say for sure that new oem impellers would cause the same lag would be to put new or refurbished eom Impllers back into my boat which I'm not willing to do just to make that determination. If I'm wrong, so be it, I still have a spare set of Impllers if I or anyone else needs them or just wants to experiment with them.
