Anybody ever taken their boat to Ocracoke before? We are planning a week long vacation on the island in the summer. Place we are renting is on a canal with a boat dock. My concerns are the waters in the Pamlico Sound can be shallow & tough to navigate. Not sure I want to leave the boat in the salt for 7 days, either. Not sure I want to hassle with the ferry ride with truck/boat, either. But I know staring at all that water for 7 days with no boat is going to make me crazy. But I'm pretty sure showing up to ocracoke with a jet boat, I will stick out like a turd in a punchbowl. So just wondering if anyone ever done this and if so what was there experience with it.
