Have any of you used or tried the Aqua Maps app for iOS? It seems similar to Navionics but has much better reviews with over 1k ratings.

Just curious if any of you have tried and liked/hated it?

I was going to get navionics for ios until reading the reviews. It seems they have really screwed up a good thing there. Seems pretty greedy of them but everyone is doing it these days so shouldn't be surprised. I'm probably just going to buy a handheld for those rare times I'm on unfamiliar lakes or want to do some night boating. It seems that is the safest way to ensure it will always work and won't eventually get blocked or "feature locked" in particular smart phone versions. I think distancing yourself from the phone apps is the better way to go, at least for now.

Any particular handheld unit you are leaning towards?

Man I really have no idea. I really haven't gave it a lot of thought other than I don't want some massive screen on my dash since I'll rarely use the GPS but I want something small to pull out for those few times I need it. Maybe some others will chime in if they use handhelds. I know most on here use large plotters/fish finder screens but I'm just looking for a good handheld for chart plotting.
