Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I have learned a great deal reading through the threads, I and really appreciate all the content provided.

My wife and I have been looking at boats from the better part of a month or two. I grew up on an older outboard ski boat, but fell in love with Jet boats when I was able to take an sea doo challenger down the river as a teenager. I am finally at a place in life where I can own my own, and have narrowed my search to Yamaha.

The reason for my post is I am debating on new vs used. I went and looked at a 2013 ar 190 that had near 500 hours on it. It was in excellent shape, but they were still asking 22k for it which seemed steep. Does that sound right? I haven't seen many at that hour mark around here. BTW, It was NOT a rental.

This made me start to think new. For 8-10k more, I can get a new boat with a warranty.

What was your deciding factor when deciding new vs used?
Are dealers willing to budge on new boats?
I am located in GA off near Lanier, so if anyone has an recommendations, let me know.

Thanks!

Wow.. He lives in the neighborhood of my Aunt and Uncle, and down the street from my dad lol. I am originally from Dothan, so this just may work out! Thanks Ramblin.

That's a great deal if it's for real.
Buy it and don't look back.

We bought our 190 used from the classified section here. I would recommend used VS new just to save the money. Boats aren't that easy to sell, so you'll always come out on top. Take a good look at it, as far as maintenance records, and look at the small details. If the the small details are taken care of, chances are better that the big ones are too. Even talking to an owner can give you an understanding of the care. Is his yard a mess? Are his cars jalopies? or... Are his cars meticulously maintained, his garaged OCD organized with polished tools? I'm not selling our 190, but boy whoever gets it when I do is going to get a nearly new boat. Good luck.

Looks like we will be picking it up in the next week or so! I have to get the work schedule worked out, but hopefully it in my driveway for my birthday coming up the first week of April. My dad went and looked at it and said it looks like it is off the showroom floor.

Thanks again!

Post some pics if you get it. It’s been said many times before, but we are good at helping you spend your money. Good luck!

Glad it worked out. I was about to jump in with some of the reasons we bought new this time instead of used, but it appears the situation has already worked itself out.

I may possibly be looking at the same boat, thought the price has dropped to $18,500. What should I ask/look for? Similar situation to OP: grew up in outboard and I/O, but quickly falling in love with the jet. Normally would not have more than 3-5 people in boat, so the size/power is plenty...

Thank you in advance!!!
