I’ve seen a lot of recommendations for the Hyperlite Landlock. Made for smaller waves and super buoyant.

Don't know if anything there gets much faster than Hyperlite Quad, yet a phat total newbie like myself can ride it ropeless behind a Yamaha. It is large like landlock at 5'9" but incredibly light, so very easy to flip.So is there anything to getting a little smaller faster board that may handle a smaller wake better? I currently have a liquid force rocket 5'4".
I actually love that board. If my buddy @mattschepker didn't win one at Shelbyville I would have bought one the next day leaving Shelbyville. I want my daughter to ride the one that Matt has and see how she does. She went ropeless behind @RampRage boat on a floatyer board, so if she likes it better we still may buy one.
Thanks for the video @swatski !
What can I say about the Quad, If you are a newbie or a skilled rider this board is for you. Light weight, fast, buoyant, but stable. The perfect board for a beginner or intermediate person surfing.
That's outstanding! So today was the best day of surfing so far. I had three of my homies with me which was key. 340 lbs of weight up front was huge. So was slowing down to exactly 10mph. After finally feeling the proper foot position (back foot about 8" from the rear and my front foot very close to the front of the board) I was able to go ropeless for almost a min on about 4 rubs today. I'm trying to get the footage now to make a little video to show you guys. Also I moved the ballast much farther off the seat cushion and added viper cobra steering.
It still amazes me as this bag looks small against the 21’ & 24’ bags but I guess our boats do as well. Lol. Keep in mind you wouldn’t want a bigger bag back there it works great. Here's how much further I had it sitting away from the back cushions. View attachment 81311 View attachment 81312

Talking out of turn here, since I'm a complete beginner. The Hyperlite Quad seems to be really fast, assuming all 4 fins installed. I think that helps me (and lousy surfers like myself) to hang back/a little further out from the boat - and still not lose the push/pocket.Can't wait to get the hyperlite quad. I can pretty decently stay in the pocket now but as soon as o want to do anything expect go straight the nose of my board dives into the water because i habe to be so far forward on the board to keep it in the push. Best wake I've found so far was the transom ballast, 250 lbs in the bow, and 150 lbs across from the helm for a goofy rider. 11 mph was the best speed for getting me away from the boat, but 10mph made a nice steep short wake you could learn to pop off of. With moving ballast to where it's basically hanging off the edge of the swim platform my rub rails and cleats leak like a seive. As soon as the season is over it's going to the delear to get fixed. I've gotten some advice on this forum that for resale value you really want the dealer to do any major shit like that to be sure it looks factory done.
