AR240 used in Salt, never flushed

I have a AR240 that was used in salt last year but never flushed. As I get ready for the new season I’m a little paranoid that there could be something wrong that I’m not seeing. Visually everything looks great. Anything I should look out for? I plan on flushing this week. Should I use some sort of additive?

You did not say how much it was used in the salt - once, fifty times or?

You said everything looks good, and that should be a good indicator that the salt exposure was limited. I would flush with a salt dissolving solution (Salt X, Salt Away and etc.). When you flush, you should: use a good city/county pressure water source, look for a good flow of water out the back near the jet pumps, you should see some peeing (if you flush without the salt solution rig first you should see strong peeing) and watch for/ listen for temp alarms just in case.

If it all looks good, it probably will be fine.

Thanks for the reply. It was used 3 days in a row, pulled out each day. Will take the advice and see how it goes.

You could also put the boat in a fresh water lake and run it hard for a while. And then go home and you saltaway etc.. Every time we go out on salt water we put it in the lake the next day before cleaning and then also flush the motors at home.

I run my boat exclusively in Salt/Brackish water. As much as people say these boats aren't designed for, they are wrong. I do not flush my boat every time I use it. When I flush it (once a month during summer, so 1 flush for every 12 days of run time) I will use salt away etc. Salt water isnt going to kill your boat.

3 days of salt usage isnt anything to worry about. How many of these boats are used in the Florida and the Gulf Coast.

I use 90% salt, I flush after every outing. I do not know if it's needed, but it's not a game I am going to play. It takes 15 minutes to flush both engine.

20 years running in salt water with various different models of jet boats. the trailer is the biggest expense due to salt water I have never had any major issues and know of a local boater that ran his boat for years without flushing it did eventually build up salt deposits that affected cooling. He did use some type of acid to flush it out sold it and it’s still running . Enjoy your boat
