How are you guys powering your sound systems? I have 2014 212x that I had two 600 watt amps for my 2 8" tower speakers and 6 6.5" cabin speakers. Currently, I have a dual battery setup but my house battery is being drained in a few hours by my audio system and the boat is not recharging the battery enough to use the audio any more that day. Do I need to add more batteries? If so, how many and what kind works best for this application? If not more batteries, what can I do to compensate for the pull of these amps off my current batteries?

What batteries are you running?

I installed an on-board charger to top the battery up between trips. Without substantial cruise time or external charging, I don't see how batteries could stand up to repeated extended sessions on a big stereo.

I use these on my 36 volt trolling motor. V-Max Battery They last all day. I'm not sure how that compares to amp power, but they are big batteries.

I'm running your stereo, plus 2 more towers and 6 10's, with 2000+ watts over 3 amps. I have 1 optima 34m and 3x optima d31m. I usually switch over to bank 2 (3x d31m) when we stop to float/anchor, but I've forgotten to do that before and had no issues all day with the single battery. I have an on-board noco charger that I plug in over night to keep them topped up.

Group 24 batteries will run 70-85 amp hours. Group 31 will run 90-125. It's a bit of an inexact science due to manufacturers ratings, but in short, bigger batteries last longer. If you're running full blast at 600 watts (which you probably aren't) then you're using 50 amps at 12v, so for 1 hour of max audio, you're using 50 amp hours. It's entirely possible to deplete a single group 24 battery in 2-3 hours if you're pushing it that hard.

I'm biased obviously, but it's really nice. subs1.jpgsubs2.jpg

Are there always dead fish where you have been?
I'm thinking a good bass hit will recreate the scene from Jurrassic Park where the T-Rex is coming and you see the water rings in the cup on the dash.......Except he has constant water rings coming from the boat!

Does this void your warranty ?
That "ship" sailed a long time ago, for many reasons. Ha

Haven't seen one yet. There has been a solo cup or two popped out of a cup holder. ?‍♂️

That's actually a really cool scene. They strung a guitar string under the dash and had someone plucking it to create that effect. Would probably be CG today.

You should get a GoPro and replay that scene with all those subs. Wonder if you can make the same effect from the hull of the boat?!?!

That would be awesome. Find the resonant frequency of the hull at the water line and play that single note with a some reverb at full volume. Water will need to be dead calm. There are plenty of music creation apps out there that would work for this kind of thing.

It seems like finding the resonant frequency of my fiberglass hull and then exploiting it is a bad idea. Maybe the subs will play for a bit under water. ?

Do you have a bass related name for your boat? That really has to tickle the bottom.
