Hi folks,

We've just purchased our beautiful 2008 AR230. I've been reading posts on this site for quite a while and this site and it's contributors pretty much sold the boat to me. I've ordered a stainless scupper already and working/studying on how best to install ballast bags. It came with two FatSacs with a portable pump but I intend to hard wire/plumb the bags, hopefully by incorporating suction from the Scupper as I really don't want to drill into the hull.... One under each side gunwales. As these boats were never released in Australia by Yamaha it is an American import. We were wondering if the previous owner may have been in this group. I'm a bit unsure if publishing his name might be a privacy issue, perhaps a PM from the moderator might be more appropriate... side trailer.jpg

Welcome to the group! We love our 08 AR230 as well, you’ll definitely find anything and everything on here. Jeff’s Jet Boat on YouTube is a great person to subscribe to as well if you haven’t already! He has done numerous videos on repairs, general maintenance, surfing, and more on his 08 AR230.

Thanks folks, Jeffs Jet boat is awesome, good to watch as he's quite passionate. I've just ordered the YDS, with cable, as the hours were a mystery when buying the boat. The boat has a long list of things that it has to do. Apart from Wake surfing, of particular interest to me is fitting the MinnKota to the front without drilling too many holes, bigger bilge, as she'll be the fishing boat too.

Nice boat "Black Betty", we also got a 2007 AR230 and totally love it.
Great capability, easy to use and reliable.
Enjoy and stay safe in the water!

Hi mate, we're in the Central Coast, NSW and have a 2007 SX230HO. It's been a fantastic boat. I've been keen to get in touch with other Aussie Yamaha owners. Being an American boat not supported here makes it difficult to source some of the bits and pieces needed for general maintenance (#4 Robertson bits to lift the fuel tank hatch off the top of my head) . I'm currently giving my boat some birthday TLC including replacing the impeller wear rings, shaft bearings etc parts sourced from the states (took almost 6 months to arrive from payment, things that were in stock suddenly were on back order). I've replaced the plastic scupper valve with the stainless version and lifted the rear clean out plug tray to find nearly every worm drive hose clamp broken. So many places for potential water ingress. I've always had water in the boat after time on the water, I'm still slowly working through the list of suspects and hopefully not the dreaded intermediate bearing! There's so much great info on this site and the members are very helpful. Hope your boats been trouble free. Keen to chat mate, cheers Chris
