Last night, I connected my ipod nano to the aux port on the dash. I didn't notice it right away, but if I paused a song there was a lot of static coming from all the speakers. I started with the obvious, hoping it wasn't the amp, head unit, or the wiring I did.
  • I changed the 3.5mm audio cable. Still had static
  • I checked the aux/usb ports on the dash. Looks brand new. Stored indoors. Never been in salt.
  • I unplugged the RCA jacks coming from the aux port behind the dash. Then I used a RCA/3.5mm cable to plug my nano into the RCA plugs going back to the headunit. Static is gone and sounds perfect.
I am thinking I should just replace the aux/usb port and be done with it. Thoughts?
