Well before getting married, I always had one if not two waverunners in the fleet. We then sold all and got into a family wakeboat. It's been cool, but you only have room for so many toys, and can only tow one at a time.
So since we have been renting a summer lake place for the past few years, my wife green lighted getting a waverunner again. She even told me to sell her bike next spring to fund it as it was just garage furniture anyway.
So I found a smokin' deal on a pair of GP1300r's with trailer, covers and lifts! WOW!! I owned GP1200 and GP1200r models and lusted for the EFI 1300R. Now we have a pair. I broke my cardinal rule and bought them after just a trial run on the hose in the driveway. It was 35 degrees and 25+mph winds. The older guy was so cool about it, and the deal was good enough that I could replace an engine if needed. Hell, they both had under 60hrs on the clock!!
So Sunday comes, and after having snowed here not two days before, the temps jumped to around 57 and sunny. So I took my visiting niece from Texas out to give them a good shakedown on the lake. The lake water is well below 50 degrees, and falling in was not an option. We got on the wetsuits and gave it a go.
One face shot in this video (half way through) literally stopped me in my tracks. I froze up instantly once it covered my head and body with icy water! WOW! But having a 165-170hp 2-stroke waverunner on the water again was just amazing. These machines are rockets and ran incredible. As expected by my questioning of the previous owner, these had very little use, and were crying for fresh fuel and plugs. But 0-65 on the dreamometer was easy as punching the fun flipper to the bar over and over again with power to spare.
Summer is over for us, put a fork in it.
Crank up the resolution on this one and enjoy!
