Battery Container Stripped screws

the screws that hold the lid retainer stripped and no longer holds the lid in place. I used slightly wider screws and they still did not hold in place. Any suggestions on how to fix the stripped screws? would silicone with the screws work?

Silicon would probably pull out. I'd fill the holes with fiberglass repair materials or epoxy, and then redrill them out. I just had to do that to my battery deck hatch when the hydraulic ram screws came out and nearly knocked my wife unconscious. It's holding really well now. I used Marine Tex

that's the exact hatch that came loose on mine. great advice. thank you

No problem! I think they actually drilled the pilot holes the wrong size because one of the holes didn’t even have any thread marks in it from the screw. The screws that’s we’re in there are #10 5/8. I could only find one of them so had to get more.
