I took my boat in for winterization and the dealership unhooked all wiring from the batteries. I plan to install my batteries this weekend, and do not remember how they were wired! Does anyone here have any pictures or a diagram of how the newer 24' boats are wired to the batteries? I wished I would of taken some pics before carrying it in. I searched the site but couldn't find what I need. Maybe I am making a big deal out of nothing, and I can figure it out on my own once I take a look at it.
 
If you can take a pic of all your leads to the batteries, I or someone should be able to help.
 
I ziptied everything together on each post and labeled when I took mine out for the season. I highly recommend that. I think you will find it is easier then you are thinking though given the wires are still connected to the start and house switches. Red to positive; black to negative; jump negatives, and hook up little black dvsr wire to either negative. Sorry did not take photos.

Thanks....I think I can figure it out. It's the little wires I am worried about. I will post up pics if I run in to any trouble.
 
@MattFX4 Let me know if you still need pics, i can get you some later today or tomorrow, I have a pretty much stock dual-setup.

Thanks guys. I think I got it from looking at these pics. One thing I am doing differently is I am installing an additional battery. I hope I am right with my logic. Is it as simple as wiring the 3rd battery to the house battery in parallel right? So basically I will have two group 31's wired in parallel on the "house" switch of the dvsr, and then one group 27 starting battery connected to the "start" switch.
 
Starting battery should only have one pos and one negative for the boat system. All other wires should go to your house bank.
 
Nervous now that I didn't unhook my batteries for the winter. Don't remember seeing that in the winterization, must have missed it.
 
@Nick Hughes - If they were put away with a full charge and are true deep cycle you did not hurt then too badly. Get a good charge on them come spring. I remove my batteries and shore charger. I put them on my basement workbench and they have it better than the boat.

You are exactly right Matt. The two Group 31 house batteries should be of the same chemistry, with the same age, same use history, and wired in parallel. You will just need a pair of jumpers and a mount/box. You will of course keep the negative jumper that you already have connected as well. That is a heck of a lot of power you will have.

Thanks for confirming. The two group 31's are both brand new Duracell AGM's. I was lying in bed last thinking about this, and if I should actually do it. Maybe I should just go with the two new group 31 batteries, and not install the original starting battery. I didn't have an issue with stereo run time last year, but I am adding an additional 800 watt amp, and I plan to be out for longer periods this year. I hate to add the additional weight on that side of the boat. That is my only concern. Other than that I don't see a downside to having the extra battery.
 
@Mainah oh yeah, any recommendation on where to buy a good quality pair of jumpers? 4 awg should be good enough right? Or do you think 6 would suffice?
 
Less than 4 ft and 6awg should be fine but 4 awg will not hurt. You should get the shortest that will fit. If you can find premade that is tinned copper just get that.

Obviously you don't want to list the boat but I don't understand what you mean by that side of the boat. Is the extra 70lbs on that side going to make that much of a difference with you at the helm on the other side? I am not trying to get too personal about your passenger manifest so more something for you to think about.

Hard to say if two group 31 agm are overkill. I would say if you are running your current system plus those rev 10s at 50 percent all day then it could not hurt. I ran my setup all day on one agm with no issue but those rev 10 must be power hungry.
 
@MattFX4 I run two of those AGM's as a house bank and have a group 24 starting battery, all on the port side of the boat. My boat doesn't list (except when I want it to). I have a 1,000 watt system that runs nearly the entire time we're on the water.

Ha I guess I meant to say I am not in favor of loading the boat down with extra weight if I don't have to.
 
I did have one question. When I reconnect all of the wires, etc., does it matter in which order I reconnect them on the pos or neg posts? I marked them when I removed them, but wasn't sure if I could put them back on in any order. Thx.
 
Does not really matter as long as you don't connect one wire then hold the empty post in one hand and the wire terminal in the other with the battery switch on and something trying to draw power.

Battery switches off makes everything safe :thumbsup:
 
If you're talking about order of wires on each post I would put the larger main cables on first, then any other smaller accessory wires on top of them.
