I'm wondering if putting the shipping cover over the premium mooring cover would save some wear on the mooring cover?

Also, poles in or no poles?

Towing about 1000 miles. Any thoughts?

I'm also thinking about wrapping the front with that Saran like pallet wrap to keep the stones from beating up the hill.

The only thoughts I can offer are "no poles". I'm pretty sure both covers are designed to kind of "suck down" on the boat when moving. With the poles in, MANY people have reported them getting ripped.

Personally, I prefer to tow without a cover, but I've only ever done 300-400 miles at one time.

I would just use the shipping cover and take the mooring cover with you in case the shipping cover decides to shread. Putting saran wrap on the bow isn't a bad idea either. I've found the the rock chips on the hull aren't always from the tow vehicle, but the other vehicles on the road with you. I have a Rock Tammer mud flap system mounted to my hitch while I'm towing and I still get rock nicks. I know nothing is perfect, but I feel it does help some.

I like the carpet protector idea. I'll get it on order today.

I tow probably 3000 miles a year. I have been using my shipping cover when I tow long distances and use the poles installed and up. Because it is a less expensive cover.

Never used both covers at once.

I have towed with each cover and both tow very well for long trips. Personally I prefer to put the towing stress on shipping cover until it dies.

I have always had my poles up whenever the cover is on. Lots of posts regarding poles up or down. Dealer told me leave poles up, so I do.

Cover damage I have had is from the nub on windshield, I use a noddle now. And tree branch poked a hole at one point. Never had a pole poke through from cover suckling down.
