Bilge plug mod

Well, that is one way you won't lose your drain plug...

Must be owned by a plumber.

To be honest if I could find a short enough valve I’d do it. It’s way more reliable in that you get a 100% shut off every time. It’s always there, you wouldn’t have to remember it every time. And if for some reason you forgot to shut it it’s pretty easy to reach down in the water and shut that versus reaching down and fitting a plug without cross threading it.

I replaced my drain plug with a garboard drain to use a drain plug light. I've sinced moved the light, but I have a ball valve from boatpluglight.com in the drain. Works great. Just flip the lever and close it back when done.

@Scottie I like that valve. Whenever I switch out my drain plug to something else I’ll be putting one of those in.
