I don't think they will ever make a M880 for tower speaker's "JL classified TCX"(Tower Coaxial Systems) in the 8.8 series, they have about 2.5-3x the excursion over the 7.7's and due to that alone I don't see JL making them for very tight space since a key feature was to improve the excursion for the mid driver.
I'm not sure, we're you saying that JL didn't have a M880 for the towers?

Yeah.....I was just unclear on what you were saying. I am running HLCD's on my tower as well.

The JL Audio 880 tower speaker is a totally different animal from the 770. The 880 has a really larger tweeter and will definitely get loud and project. The difference in amplitude & projection between the 880 and any 8-inch HLCD will be from 4 kHz and above. The exception would be the Wetsounds Rev10 because it takes you from an 8-inch to a 10-inch.
