Boat Explodes

My blower is on while running.

You also probably need an expensive CO2 or Halotron extinguisher for that port to work to its full potential.
Dealer supplied piece of crap duster isn’t going to do much if the fire isn’t at the front of the engines.
I’d think that shooting a couple of extinguishers through that port is a better option than open it up?

Absolutely. Better yet to have a gaseous type of extinguisher for that.
They’re under $200 for a small one.

Doesn’t yours time out after 5min?

I don't think so. Was pulling the kids tubing for at least 1 hour or so straight yesterday and when I stopped the blower was still on. It just becomes habit now.

Weird. Mine has a little timer on the button that counts down from five minutes.

Mine is just a switch. I didn't get the fancy boat. You can see mine above my keys. Toggle on, lights up red, toggle off.

When it turns on automatically, like when first turning the battery switches on, it has a timer. If you turn it on manually after the fact it will stay on until you turn it off.

Pretty sure in that sort of explosion, the hatch is one of the things you see launched into the air 20 feet!

This sort of accident is why one of the first mods I do to my boat is install a $150 fume detector. It went off again this last weekend while I was gassing up - there was a gentle breeze blowing fumes into the boat....so I turned blowers on once done and alarm cleared. (also linked in my Signature)

Just one gallon of gasoline is equivalent to 14 sticks of dynamite in explosive force. (googled this quickly-I've seen other similar numbers).
That fume detector is now $299 at West Marine. I know because I bought one. Still back ordered

I orderd a 5 lb CO2 fire extinguiser and its on backorder like everything else. They were nice enough to send me the USCG approved bracket however.
