So, I need advice on how to preserve the bottom of my boat. Essentially I am now storing my boat at a marina that takes the boat on and off the trailer for me. It is stored under cover when not in use. I pulled the boat yesterday to bring it home for cleaning and a little TLC. I noticed that the bottom where it slides on the bunks is all scratched. Currently only superficial but I have to assume over time it will become a problem. What I believe is happening is that the trailer sits unused for several days while I have the boat in the water and is getting dirty. They dip the whole trailer but it apparently is not enough and the bunks are scratching the bottom. So, what are the options? I know about bottom paint but I do not need all that it offers. I simply need to protect the fiberglass. What are others doing? Is there just a paint option? Vinyl wrap?

It's a common issue for trailer boats. Take a look at your carpet, maybe you need to replace it with a more plush carpet. The fibers get matted down over time and might be a little rough on the edges.

Stay away from the plastic bunk board slides as they do more damage than carpet.

Before I load I brush my bunks with a stiff shop brush to get rid of sand or sediment in the carpet. Then a light spray with CRC 6-56. Now, I still have some slide marks but it's not too bad.

I do not have that option. I leave my boat at the dock and the staff loads it.

I guess the real question is, how much do I need to be concerned? Is it something I can have a shop buff and repair every couple of years? They are very fine scratches, can not feel them if you run your hand over them. My biggest concern is eventually it could wear down to the glass, or can it?

Its nothing to be concerned about, just keep an eye on it.
